Iconic Star Trek actor William Shatner is officially set to blast off into space with the crew of the Blue Origin on its next flight into space on October 12th. At 90-years-old, Shatner will finally go to space for real, and he will become the oldest person to ever rocket into space.

Blue Origin is the aerospace company owned by Amazon founder and multibillionaire Jeff Bezos, who already launched into orbit on one of the company’s rockets this past summer.

In a recent tweet Monday, Shatner added, “So now I can say something. Yes, it’s true; I’m going to be a ‘rocket man!'” Shatner said in a statement provided by Blue Origin, “I’ve heard about space for a long time now. I’m taking the opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle.”

Shatner will join the crew of Blue Origin’s New Shepard NS-18 flight, whose other passengers will include Audrey Powers, Blue Origin’s VP of mission and flight operations, alongside crewmates Chris Boshuizen and Glen de Vries.

This is going to be an incredibly cool experience for Shatner and it must be awesome for him to be in a position to do this. Hell, if I had the opportunity to rocket into space, I’d do it!

You will be able to watch live launch coverage of the William Shatner trip to space on Blue Origin’s October 12th flight on blueorigin.com at T-90 minutes. Liftoff is currently set for 8:30 am CT from Launch Site One in West Texas.
