Willem Dafoe Has an Idea to Play a "Joker Imposter" Alongside Joaquin Phoenix's Joker
Willem Dafoe has shared quite an interesting idea for a Joker sequel that he’d like to star in. Fans have been wanting to see Dafoe play Joker for years because he would be freakin’ perfect in the role of the insane character!
Well, it turns out that Dafoe would like the opportunity to play a version of the character as well, and he has an idea that involves him playing, what he calls, a “Joker imposter” alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s version of the character. He explains in an interview with GQ:
"There is something interesting about, like, if there was a Joker imposter. So it would be possible to have not duelling Jokers but someone that says to be the Joker that isn't the Joker. And that kind of opens up the possibility of an interesting story, particularly if you had Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, and then you had someone who was either imitating or riffing off what he did. I fantasized about that. But other than that I am not talking to anybody [about it], you're the first one."
While there’s nothing in the works regarding this, the idea is out there now and every entertainment website is sure to share the news. The executives at Warner Bros. and DC are going to see it, and then they’ll ignore it because that’s what they do.
Dafoe recently reprised his role of Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and holy shit! He was amazing! He was one of my favorite parts of the movie! He was brutal and in his full-on villain mode, and if we never get to see him play Joker, at least we got to see him play that utterly insane version of Green Goblin!
