Warner Bros. Wants More HARRY POTTER Films with J.K. Rowling's Involvement as FANTASTIC BEASTS Put on Hold

According to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, the studio wants to produce more Harry Potter movies. During a recent investor's call, he shared that they are "going to have a real focus on franchises" going forward, despite having just put the Fantastic Beasts franchise on hold for the time being.

He said (via Deadline), "We haven't had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven't done a Harry Potter in 15 years. The DC movies and the Harry Potter movies provided a lot of the profits for Warner Bros. … over the past 25 years.”

So yeah, obviously he wants more of that Harry Potter action! Zaslav went on to say that the only way the studio would want to expand its Wizarding World film franchise is if J.K. Rowling was involved. But, according to Variety, as of right now there are currently "no active discussions" between Rowling and the studio about expanding the franchise. Obviously, those talks will come when WB is ready to make this all happen.

Who knows what the future of the Harry Potter franchise looks like!? It’s such a huge world and there are so many stories that can be told within it. Will they resurrect the Fantastic Beasts films or will they want to tell a completely different story with all new characters?

I love the Harry Potter franchise, and it will be interesting to see what the future of the Wizarding World franchise ends up being.

If WB does move forward with these plans and Rowling is brought back to work on the franchise, there’s sure to be a backlash by some fans due to her views on the trans community that she’s shared on social media. But, Warner Bros. sees the value that she brings to the Harry Potter franchise and they won’t do it without her.

I’m just a fan of the Harry Potter franchise and I would definitely welcome new films and stories that are set in the Wizarding World. What do you think!?
