THE BOYS Showrunner Eric Kripke Wants to Make a Series Adaptation of Image Comics' SAGA

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has started a campaign to get the rights to Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples’ Image Comics series Saga so that he can develop a series adaptation. If an adaptation of Saga ever does happen, Kripke is definitely the guy to bring it to life.

He recently took to X to share an article from THR, where he tells them that he’s "dying" to get his hands on Saga. He also shared the following comment with the post: "Mostly this is my desperate campaign to get Brian K. Vaughn & @fionastaples to let me have the rights to #Saga. I'll treat your baby well! @ImageComics.”

Saga is a mesmerizing and genre-defying space opera that comes with a rich narrative. The story follows the star-crossed lovers Alana and Marko, members of two warring extraterrestrial races, as they navigate the challenges of parenthood and attempt to escape the endless conflict that threatens their family. They are fleeing authorities from both sides of a galactic war as they struggle to care for their newborn daughter, Hazel. The series has received widespread critical acclaim for its originality, emotional depth, and the seamless integration of fantasy elements into a complex, character-driven narrative.

I think it’s only a matter of time before we see an adaptation of Saga, and after seeing what Kripke has done with Supernatural and The Boys, I’d like to see him take on the challenge.

Vaughan has previously talked about how ambitious it would be to bring this story to life: "I still think for now, I flatter myself to think Fiona and I are doing something that celebrates what only comics can do, which is the scope beyond a Hollywood blockbuster in terms of the visuals, but also a challenging grown-up story like you would get in a long-form TV drama. I think it's still very difficult, with what we're trying to say and do, for that to be done in film and television. I remain not completely opposed to it. But for me, it's so not the goal. I would rather just keep my head down and keep making a great comic book, then get out there and chase a great adaptation."

At this point, it’s just a waiting game for this all to happen. Would you like to see Saga adaptated as a TV series? Do you think that Kirpke is the right person to do it?
