Shawn Levy Teases the Deadpool/Wolverine Chemistry in DEADPOOL 3 as "Relentlessly Awesome"

Director Shawn Levy is giving us an update on the state of how he left things on the set of Deadpool 3, after having to leave things unfinished due to the ongoing strike. We all know this next film will welcome the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and we’ve been dreaming about the great frenemy relationship we will see him share with Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool.

While the filming is at a standstill, Levy gave Deadline a positive update (via CB):

"Well, like the rest of our industry, or at least large swaths of it, we are paused. We were halfway through filming Deadpool, co-starring Wolverine. It was a joy every day, and that chemistry is, I have to say, spoiler alert, it is as relentlessly awesome as we had all hoped it would be. But we are halfway through filming, we shut down, our crew and the rest of us are awaiting a fair and equitable deal that ends these strikes and puts our industry and certainly inclusive of our movie back at work."

The film stars Emma Corrin as the villain, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna who will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio.

It’s been confirmed that there will be two different versions of Wolverine in the movie, and it was also recently confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra from the 2003 Daredevil movie. There are reports that several other X-Men characters could appear such as Halle Berry as Storm, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, and James Marsden returning to play Cyclops! There are also reports that Ben Affleck will be showing up in the movie as Daredevil and Channing Tatum appearing as Gambit. It was also previously reported that Deadpool 3 will feature more than two variants of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool.

Deadpool 3 is currently slated to open in theaters on May 3, 2024.
