Russell T. Davies Says He Is Planning Two More Seasons of DOCTOR WHO
Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies is back at the series for the upcoming season, after having been gone for over a decade, and he’s preparing for a couple of future seasons as well. This upcoming season of Doctor Who is a reboot of sorts, with Davies back at the helm and Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor. The reset is being referred to as “Season 1.” Season 2 has already been confirmed and is expected to air in 2025.
Davies told SFX magazine (via gamesradar) in the new issue, which features David Tennant as The Doctor on the cover:
“I'm planning season 3 now, there’s plans for season 4. Absolutely. Who knows? Who knows. I'm not getting any younger. At the risk of sounding sanctimonious, but I really, really mean this – they were going to do this to the show anyway and I genuinely thought, 'It needs looking after.'"
The Doctor Who 60th anniversary special episodes include “The Star Beast,” which will premiere on Saturday, November 25; "Wild Blue Yonder” on Saturday, December 2; and then "The Giggle" on Saturday, December 9.
The specials find the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) reuniting with Donna (Catherine Tate) as they battle the Toymaker (Neil Patrick Harris). Jacqueline King (Sylvia Noble), Karl Collins (Shaun Temple) and Jemma Redgrave (Kate Lethbridge-Stewart) also reprise their roles from past seasons. Yasmin Finney, Miriam Margolyes and Ruth Madeley also star.
