Jake Gyllenhaal Hilariously Forgot That Dennis Quaid Played His Dad in THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW

Way back in 2004, Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal starred in the apocalyptic thriller The Day After Tomorrow. After spending the whole film apart, it’s been 18 years since that movie came out, and the two actors have reunited for the animated adventure film Strange World, which was released in theaters this week. Only, Gyllenhaal didn’t exactly remember that this was a reunion.

During a junket interview with Yahoo Entertainment for the animated movie, in which they didn’t record their scenes together, Gyllenhaal and Quaid teamed up to answer some questions. When a reporter said to Quaid, “You and Jake obviously played father and son in The Day After Tomorrow,” Gyllenhaal cut in and said, “We did? Oh…Oh, oh! Whoah! That’s the guy who played my dad.”

“It’s the first time we’ve been in the same room together,” Quaid said. “That’s me.”

Gyllenhaal added, “Wow that’s cool. You know we’ve been doing a lot of interviews and you just blew my mind.”

It’s pretty hilarious when stuff like that happens. It makes sense when you think of the fact that they didn’t share scenes, and most actors don’t watch their work. I love this story, and I’m excited to see Strange World in theaters this week. Check out the video of the funny moment below.
