Olivia Cooke is in final negotiations to star in the Netflix series The Magic Order, based on the comic, which is in development at Netflix. The comic co-creator Mark Millar is set to executive-produce alongside Lindsey Beer (Sierra Burgess Is a Loser), who is also on board to write. Michael Clear (Swamp Thing) and James Wan (Aquaman) are set to produce as well.

Here’s a description of the story:

The Magic Order is based off the comic series of the same name by Mark Millar and Oliver Coipel. The series will center on a group of five families made of up wizards, and sorcerers. While they spend most of the day posing as stage magicians and escape artists that entrain the world with illusions, they spend the nights fighting against a mysterious and powerful dark magic that could otherwise threaten the world. But their unity is threatened when parts of the group turn on one another in search of more power, setting off the magical equivalent of a gang-war between the families.

Cooke is reportedly in talks to take on the role of Cordelia Moonstone, the illegitimate daughter of Leonard Moonstone, one of the magicians who work within the Magic Order.

“A misanthropic drunk with a punk-like aesthetic and a perchance for dangerous stunts, Cordelia is described as being ‘more dangerous than her father realizes.’ This could be setting the stage for the series to draw up her more rebellious qualities, which are present in the original six-issue series.”

This sounds like a fun series, and a great role for Cooke. Are you excited for this adaptation and possible casting choice?
