We’ve got a new featurette to share with you today for director Matt Reeves’ The Batman. It’s titled “Reinventing Gordon” and it was released as a special feature on the Batman Year One animated movie Commemorative Edition 4K Ultra HD release.
The video offer up some new footage from The Batman, which puts the focus on Jim Gordon and it also features Jefferey Wright talking about the version of the character that he plays in the film. He explains, "I did go back and look at some of the early comics, and some of the more modern stuff. Just to track the evolution of Gordon, and that was useful because there is an evolution."
He also talks about the character saying, “I think what the Batman series has evolved into is not so much kind of a black and white, good vs. evil idea, but something a little more nuanced. And I don't even know if Gordon necessarily is good, so much as he desires being good."
The film also stars Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, and Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson. Gil Perez-Abraham (Orange is the New Black), Charlie Carver (Teen Wolf), and Max Carver have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
The synopsis reads:
The Batman is an edgy, action-packed thriller that depicts Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realization that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he's hunting.
The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on March 4th, 2022.
