Netflix In Negotiations to Buy Thriller WOMAN IN THE WINDOW Starring Amy Adams From Disney
Netflix is in early negotiations to purchase the thriller The Woman in the Window from Disney. The film stars Amy Adams (American Hustle, Sharp Objects), Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, Sam Wilson/Falcon in the Marvel universe), Wyatt Russell (Everybody Wants Some!!, Overlord), Gary Oldman (Harry Potter series, The Dark Knight), Brian Tyree Henry (If Beale Street Could Talk, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Julianne Moore (Still Alice, Crazy Stupid Love), and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight, Atypical) and is being directed by Joe Wright, who has helmed great films like Pride & Prejudice, The Soloist, Hanna, and Darkest Hour. The script was adapted by Tracy Letts (August: Osage County) from the novel by A.J. Finn.
Variety reports that “Disney had originally scheduled the movie for Oct. 4, 2019, then delayed the film to May 15, 2020, before taking it off the release schedule amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney had acquired the movie as part of buying the 20th Century Fox film studio in March 2019.”
The Woman in the Window “follows a psychologist who witnesses a crime while spying on her new neighbors in New York City. Gary Oldman plays the family patriarch. Letts portrays the therapist of Adams’ character and Brian Tyree Henry plays a detective.”
I hope that Netflix does buy the rights to the movie, because I think it may end up getting released sooner than Disney is planning. Netflix has been buying up a lot of films recently, and it’s certainly a smart move, as people are eager for new content with movie theaters and productions shut down the past several months.
The Woman in the Window has a fantastic cast, and a really intriguing story, so I can’t wait to watch it! Check out the trailer below to refresh your memory, and keep your fingers crossed that we will be able to watch the movie soon.
