LOGAN Director James Mangold Says He and Hugh Jackman Discussed Ideas For a Wolverine and Deadpool Movie

Before Hugh Jackman returned to reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, he and his Logan director James Mangold were actually talking about ideas for a Wolverine and Deadpool adventure film. Mangold shared this bit of information during a recent interview with Insider, saying:

"I've made a bunch of movies with Hugh Jackman now. We're good friends and we talked a lot. And one of the things we talked about a lot, even while we were making Logan, was the idea of how joyful a kind of Midnight Run or 48 Hrs. with Deadpool and Logan would be. So, I completely understand those guys chasing that idea."

A Midnight Run and 48 Hrs. style Deadpool and Wolverine action comedy would be a ton of fun! That’s actually what I’m kind of hoping that this Deadpool 3 movie will feel like, but in a multiverse-type setting. When previously talking about Jackman returning to the role of Wolverine, Mangold said:

"I can't say that there's a part of me that doesn't wish that we'd let it be. But there was always going to be another Wolverine. There could be a baby Wolverine and a cartoon Wolverine. As much liquid as they can squeeze out of that rag, they're going to try to. I don’t measure my success on a movie like Logan with whether we ended the conversation. I ended my conversation."

Fans have been wanting to see Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool reunite for a long time for a movie, and it’s actually happening! Deadpool 3 is being directed by Shawn Levy, and it sounds like it’s going to be one hell of a crazy adventure.

There are a lot of wild rumors about the film being reported, like about several members of Fox’s X-Men characters being involved, and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld says that all of the characters appearing in the movie will “melt your face off.”

The movie also stars Emma Corrin as the villain, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.

Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It’s also being reported that Halle Berry will be back as Storm, Famke Janssen will reprise her role as Jean Grey, and James Marsden may return to play Cyclops! It’s also teased that the movie will also include a returning X-Men villain and a returning MCU villain.

Deadpool 3 is currently slated to open in theaters on May 3, 2024. It’s going to be really interesting to see what this movie actually ends up delivering!
