Lauren Oliver's PANIC Gets Green Light from Amazon

Amazon will be home to a new young adult drama called Panic. The show is based on Lauren Oliver’s novel which was released in 2014 and has officially been given the green light. We heard that the show was being developed several months ago, and it looks like the studio liked what they were seeing.

Panic centers on a forgotten rural town where every year the graduating seniors risk their lives in an illegal, high-stakes game to win life-changing money–and a chance to escape. Anonymous judges force the players through a series of challenges that will compel them to confront their deepest fears – and upend their ideas of who they are, who to trust, and who they might become. This year, 47 players will compete for the biggest pot ever. All of them will be changed. Only one will win.

Oliver is writing each episode in the series with Leigh Janiak previously attached as director. Will Chase, Mike Faist, Ray Nicholson, and Olivia Welch starred in the pilot episode and I’m assuming they’re going to be staying as no comment has been made on a change in casting. Is Panic a show that you’re excited for?
