KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON Writer Eric Roth Teaming Up with Director Denis Villeneuve for Sci-Fi Film Project
Killers of the Flower Moon writer Eric Roth has revealed that he is teaming up with Dune director Denis Villeneuve for a mysterious sci-fi film project. During a recent interview on the A Script Apart podcast, Roth shared the following information:
“I just wrote a movie for Denis Villeneuve. We’ll see what ends up happening with it, but it’s about space and time, and it’s very lonely. It’s certainly about eternity.”
World of Reel asked Roth about the news and if this was a script for the rumored adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke’s Rendevous with Rama, which Villeneuve has been rumored to be working on for some time now. The screenwriter said:
“The title will have to remain a dark star for now. Suffice it to say at 78 I am trying to find some answers to the unanswerable.”
I hope it is Rendevous with Rama, the story of which is set in the 2130s, and it involves a massive cylindrical alien starship that enters the Solar System. The story is told from the point of view of a group of human explorers who intercept the ship in an attempt to unlock its mysteries.
Whatever project it is, there’s no guarantee that it will get made, and if it does, it will be awhile before we see it. Villeneuve has a third Dune movie that he wants to make.
