Jordan Peele and Randall Park Are Teaming Up For a Historical Genre Film About Japanese American Soldiers in WWII

Jordan Peele is teaming up with WandaVision and Blockbuster star Randall Park for a new film project. The movie is described as a historical drama film about the lives of Japanese-American soldiers in World War II.

Randall is writing a script with Michael Golamco (Always Be My Maybe) and the story will “use the lives of Japanese-American soldiers in World War II as a jumping-off point.”

The movie is inspired by the estimated 33,000 Japanese Americans who served in the U.S. military during and immediately after World War II. An estimated 800 of these soldiers were killed in action. There’s no information on the “genre” aspect of the story. We don’t know if it will come into play on or off the battlefield.

Regardless of the genre aspect of the film, this is simply an interesting story and I love that Peele and Randall are looking to shed some light on these Japanese-American soldiers during WWII and explore their stories. That’s enough for me to want to watch the movie! The whole genre aspect of the story will just add another interesting layer to it.
