Last year there was a rumor making the rounds that WB offered Joaquin Phoenix a deal to star in two Joker sequels. It was also reported that director Todd Phillips was officially going to work on developing a sequel.

Well, it seems like Phoenix isn’t aware of this as he doesn’t know of any plans. During a recent interview with The Playlist, Phoenix was asked about the possibility of a sequel and this was his reply:

"I mean, I dunno. From when we were shooting, we started to —you know, uhh, this is an interesting guy. There are some things we could do with this guy and could [explore] further. But as to whether we actually will? I don't know."

The report goes on to say that Phoenix admits he doesn't know any concrete details about the Joker sequel, and the interviewer went on to suggest that Phoenix was rather hesitant to take on this kind of role, the actor simply smiled and sarcastically responded, "What kind of thing? Interesting character, interesting movie?"

So what is happening with the Joker sequel? Well, WB hasn’t officially announced anything, but Phillips has admitted that he has discussed ideas with Phoenix and the studio. I’d be fine if we never saw a sequel to Joker, but if one gets made, of course, I’m going to watch it.
