Jeff Nichols' Sci-Fi Road Movie MIDNIGHT SPECIAL Gets a Powerful New Trailer
Jeff Nichols, the director of Take Shelter and Mud, is back with his first studio film, Midnight Special. The movie, which was heavily influenced by films like Close Encounters, E.T., and Starman, is currently making the film festival rounds, and from what I've seen so far, it's received a lot of positive reviews. I'm a huge fan of Nichols' work, so I'm excited to check this one out for myself.
Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for the film, and for all the talk about this being a sci-fi chase story, this trailer makes it very clear that there's more going on than just surface level thrills. Check it out below. Midnight Special hits theaters on March 18th.
In the sci-fi thriller “Midnight Special,” writer/director Jeff Nichols proves again that he is one of the most compelling storytellers of our time, as a father (Michael Shannon), goes on the run to protect his young son, Alton (Jaeden Lieberher), and uncover the truth behind the boy’s special powers.
What starts as a race from religious extremists and local law enforcement quickly escalates to a nationwide manhunt involving the highest levels of the Federal Government. Ultimately his father risks everything to protect Alton and help fulfill a destiny that could change the world forever, in this genre–defying film as supernatural as it is intimately human.
