As you know, Jonathan Nolan worked with his brother Christopher Nolan as a co-writer of The Dark Knight saga. These guys made some great movies, and Jonathan would love to make more Batman movies if the opportunity presented itself.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Jonathan Nolan was asked if he’d ever be interested in returning to the Batman franchise at some point in the future

Nolan said: “Wouldn’t that be a dream? That period was 10 years of my life [from] when I got the call to work on Batman Begins, and it was epic.”

He added: “Working with Christian [Bale], Heath [Ledger], Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and to honor an American icon. If I had the chance to go back and work on that again? Absolutely.”

He continued: “We’ve moved onto other things. And, of course, other people have picked up the mantel and moved on with those characters.”

Nolan was then asked who he’d like to see play the Dark Knight in an upcoming Batman movie, he answered, “To me, it will always be Christian.”

I would actually like to see Nolan’s vision of the Batman universe continue, but that’s never going to happen.

Disney+ has released a really fun trailer for the upcoming series LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, a show similar to Marvel’s What If…?, but for Star Wars. In the trailer, you’ll see Ewok bounty hunters, Geonosian Jedi, and an awesome Darth Jar Jar voiced by Ahmed Best, along with the voice cast that incudes Gaten Matarazzo, Tony Revolori, Bobby Moynihan, Marsai Martin, Michael Cusack, and Mark Hamill back as Luke Skywalker.

The synopsis reads:

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is a “four-piece” animated special. The entire Star Wars galaxy gets completely mixed up when an ordinary nerf-herder, Sig Greebling (voiced by Gaten Matarazzo), unearths a powerful artifact called the Cornerstone found within a hidden Jedi temple. He finds himself thrust into adventure in a new, wondrously wild and twisted version of the galaxy where good guys are bad, bad guys are good, and the fate of all depends on Sig becoming the hero who can help put all the pieces back together.

The show is a 4-episode one-off Star Wars Special executive produced by and showrun by animation filmmakers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, The Addams Family 2). Chris Buckley is featured as a director on the series.

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy will drop on Disney+ on September 13, 2024. Check out the trailer below:

With X-Men ‘97 seeing a lot of success and getting a lot of praise from audiences, fans would love to see Spider-Man: The Animated Series revived as well.

The Spider-Man show ran from 1994 to 1998, and the superhero was voiced by Christopher Daniels Barnes. The showrunner of that show, John Semper Jr., previously said that he wants a Spider-Man ‘94 revival.

When previously asked whether he'd be interested in resurrecting the show, he said: “All they have to do is call me. I'm here, and I'd certainly consider doing it.”

That comment sparked a fire in fans tagging Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige to make this happen. Barnes has now responded to this support from fans on X.

The voice actor said: “Hey everyone! I just wanted to say thanks for all of the positivity and support surrounding the idea of a Spider-Man 98 revival! I’d obviously love to participate in such an awesome venture!”

He added: “Unfortunately I haven’t been contacted by anyone regarding this possibility and I also currently have no connection to the X-Men 97 show 😕.”

Barnes concluded: “But hey let’s remember Stan Lee and remain ‘True Believers’! Maybe I’ll get that magical phone call, have to sign an NDA, and then go weirdly silent on the issue! Here’s hoping!!!🤞🏻”

When previously talking about how much the 90s Spider-Man series is loved by fans, Semper Jr. said: "Well, it feels spectacular. I am, right at this moment, very happy to be me [Laughs]. I do get wonderful feedback from fans. Just about every other day I get an email or a letter out of the blue from someone saying about what the series meant to them."

He added: "I always hoped the show would have longevity and an impact down the line, and that people would appreciate the kind of drama we brought. It was threading that needle of appealing to fans, older people, and introducing Spider-Man to a new generation of kids who were totally unfamiliar with him."

I have no doubt that a Spider-Man ‘94 series would be a big hit with fans, and I hope that Marvel does something with it! There have been rumors of an animated shared universe, but we’ll just have to wait and see!

Universal Pictures is developing a Leonardo da Vinci film that is a high priority for them, and they’ve brought on All of Us Strangers director Andrew Haigh to helm the project.

The movie will be an adaptation of Walter Isaacson’s acclaimed biography Leonardo da Vinci, which was written using thousands of pages from Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks and new discoveries about his life and work.

In the book, Isaacson “weaves a narrative that connects his art to his science. He shows how Leonardo's genius was based on skills we can improve in ourselves, such as passionate curiosity, careful observation, and an imagination so playful that it flirted with fantasy.

“He produced the two most famous paintings in history, The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. But in his own mind, he was just as much a man of science and technology.

“With a passion that sometimes became obsessive, he pursued innovative studies of anatomy, fossils, birds, the heart, flying machines, botany, geology, and weaponry.

“His ability to stand at the crossroads of the humanities and the sciences, made iconic by his drawing of Vitruvian Man, made him history's most creative genius.”

Leonardo da Vinci lived from 1452-1519 during the height of the Renaissance, which was one of the most creative spurts in human history. It will be really cool and interesting to see this brought to life as a big budget film.

A sweet and funny trailer has been released for the indie drama Ghostlight, a coming of age story which follows a father and daughter as they push through a difficult time in their lives and look to find meaning both in and out of their relationship.

The film stars Keith Kupferer, Katherine Mallen Kupferer, Tara Mallen, and Dolly De Leon, and it is co-directed by filmmakers Alex Thompson (Saint Frances, Rounding) and Kelly O’Sullivan, co-directing their first feature film together after a few other short films previously. The screenplay is written by Kelly O’Sullivan.

The synopsis reads: “When melancholic construction worker Dan finds himself drifting from his wife & daughter, he discovers community and purpose in a local theater’s production of Romeo and Juliet. As the drama onstage starts to mirror his own life, he and his family are forced to confront a personal loss.”

This looks like a lovely film. Ghostlight premiered at Sundance film festival earlier this year, and had a warm reception. Check out the trailer below, and watch Ghostlight in select US theatres on June 14th.

There are currently two Evil Dead spinoff films in the works. One is from filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček, and the other is coming from director Francis Galluppi.

We don’t know exactly what story these movies will tell, but one thing we do know is that they will bring bloody and gory terror! Galluppi recently talked about his love for the Evil Dead franchise and the opportunity he’s been given to play in Sam Raimi’s horror franchise universe.

Galluppi said: "All I can really say is how much of a fan I am of Evil Dead and how much I really care about this franchise. It truly is one of the movies that made me want to make movies. I'm not just saying that.”

He continued: "I grew up watching Back to the Future and Indiana Jones and these huge spectacles and spent most of my life playing music because film, making movies seems so unattainable, and there's something about the original Evil Dead that you could just tell that [director] Sam [Raimi] and Bruce [Campbell] were out there having so much fun making the thing they wanted to make.”

“And it was so innovative”, he added, “and that's really the thing that inspired me to go pick up a camera and get my friends together and go out and make a horror short.

“My office is covered in Evil Dead stuff, so I have, it's just very exciting. I'm really excited. Everyone at Ghost House is just really, they're just great to work with."

He went on to talk about which of the Evil Dead films might influence his own spinoff, saying: "I like them all. I'm dead serious. I think that it's a perfect ... they have not f-cked up any of the movies. They're all great, and I love them all for my own reasons.”

He then pointed out Army of Darkness, saying: “Obviously, Army of Darkness came out in a time, a perfect age for me, so I watched that a lot growing up, and Evil Dead had a huge impact on me when I was 18. And I love Fede [Álvarez's]. I love Lee [Cronin's]. They're all great.”

He added: “I really can't tell you if ... I feel like I always go back to the original Evil Dead. It's just a comfort movie for me. But with that said, I watch them all. Even the show. The show is great."

When it comes to the Ash vs. Evil Dead series, Galluppi said: "When that show was on, it was like, that was the one show where we always had a f-cking weekly party at my house, and everyone came over and we got pizza, and we all were watching the new episode of Ash vs. Evil Dead, and I miss it."

Well, the filmmaker certainly sounds like he’s a huge fan of the franchise! I hope he ends up bringing something crazy horrific and unique to the franchise!

What kind of story would you like to see old in the Evil Dead universe? Personally, I’ve like to see the history of the universe explored more.

Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, Midnight Mass) is set to produce an upcoming supernatural horror thriller titled Shelby Oaks.

The film is based on a popular online marketing campaign involving a series of found footage videos uploaded by a fictional YouTuber named JesstheParanoid. The whole thing was created by Youtuber Chris Stuckmann.

Flanagan will executive-produce the movie alongside producing partners Trevor Macy and Melinda Nishioka. 

The synopsis reads: "Mia (Camille Sullivan) frantically searches for her sister Riley (Sarah Durn), after Riley ominously disappeared in the last tape of a group of paranormal investigators called the Paranormal Paranoids. As Mia's obsession grows, she begins to suspect that the imaginary demon from Riley's childhood may have been real." 

The last uploaded video is titled “Riley's Last Message,” and it’s the last known footage of Mia's sister Riley before her mysterious disappearance.

Stuckmann writes and directs the film, which also stars Brendan Sexton III, Michael Beach, Robin Bartlett, Keith David, and Emily Bennett.

The film was funded through a Kickstarter campaign, which raised $1.39 million in under one month, with over 14,000 people donating. It actually became the number one most funded horror movie project on the crowdfunding platform.

Shelby Oaks does not have a release date yet. This sounds like it’ll be an interesting film project.

Netflix has released a promo video offering a first look at R.L. Stein’s Fear Street: Prom Queen horror film. The video offers a behind the scenes look at the production.

The video comes with the caption: “Welcome to Shadyside High. We're gonna have a killer time.”

In the film: “Prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown.

“But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.”

The cast includes India Fowler (The Nevers, Insomnia), Suzanna Son (Red Rocket, The Idol), Fina Strazza (Paper Girls, Above the Shadows), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty, Cinnamon), Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), and Chris Klein (Sweet Magnolias, American Pie).

The cast also includes Lili Taylor (Outer Range, Manhunt) and Katherine Waterston (The End We Start From, Perry Mason).

The movie is being directed by Matt Palmer and this will be the fourth Fear Street film adapted from the book series. The first three films were a trilogy that consisted of Fear Street Part One: 1994, Fear Street Part Two: 1978, and Fear Street Part Three: 1666. Those were all fun horror movies and they were directed by Leigh Janiak.

The three films were based on Stine’s novels that were set in the town of Shadyside. The original series lasted for 51 novels. The three movies were released over the course of three weeks, and they tell one killer story about the sinister history of the town of Shadyside.

Yvonne Bernard, Joan Waricha, Jane Stine will serve as executive producers alongside Caroline Pitofsky, who is overseeing production for Chernin Entertainment. Producers include Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kori Adelson for Chernin Entertainment.

Fallout ended up being a hell of a great series, and I absolutely love Walton Goggins’ performance as The Ghoul, who is a character that isn’t pleasant to look at.

The Ghoul is a freaky-looking character, and the makeup effects were so well done! The makeup was so good, that one day the actor scared the shit out of himself!

During a recent interview with IGN, he talked about the Ghoul’s makeup and what it was like wearing it throughout the show’s production.

Goggins shared the story about how at one point while they were shooting in Namibia, South Africa, when he fell asleep with his makeup on, and when he woke up it was a nightmare.

He explained: “There was one time when we were in Namibia, man, I was so exhausted, and I had this stuff on, and it was these little trailers, whatever they had in Namibia.”

“And I woke up from this very strange nap,” he continued, “and I happened to be sleeping in front of this mirror, and I woke up I was like 'Oh my god! Goddamn!' Like it really freaked me out. I scared the shit out of myself is what I'm saying.”

That’s one of those things you wish would’ve gotten caught on camera. What a hilarious reaction that would be to see!

Being completely out of it, and unprepared for that visual, of course Goggins freaked out! The actor got the full effect of what everyone else around him was seeing.

The first image of James Gunn’s Superman was shared yesterday featuring actor David Corenswet all decked out as Superman and preparing for battle in his luxurious downtown apartment. I didn’t realize reporters make that much money!

Anyway, most fans are talking about the suit design, but there is one other big thing in the image that was interesting… a giant floating villainous orb blasting a pink ray at the city.

This is what Superman is casually getting ready to battle. In that photo, he doesn’t seem like he’s too concerned or in a rush. But what is that orb!?

Fans are speculating that the deadly orb in the sky over Metropolis is the DC villain "Solaris," who was created by Grant Morrison in the 1998 series DC One Million, and also had a role in the All-Star Superman comic run.

Solaris is a stellar supercomputer the hails from the 853rd century. “This man-made tyrant sun sought to conquer two eras. By encoding its evil in a techno-virus sent back to infect 20th century machinery, Solaris literally created itself.”

Solaris can infect and consume stars, and it becomes obsessed with battling Superman and all his descendants, in a feud that lasts from the 20th Century all the way to the 853rd century.

In the comics, the JLA and its future counterparts of Justice Legion-A had to join forces to defeat this sentient star.

This is all just speculation, but it also seems like the kind of villain that Gunn would have some fun playing with in a Superman story.

In the All-Star Superman story, Solaris teams up with Lex Luthor to take down Superman by tinting the sun to red color, which would drain Clark Kent’s powers. Solaris ends up poisoning the sun, which forced Superman to sacrifice himself to re-power the sun. 

Superman will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

Netflix has announced that production has officially started on Wednesday Season 2, and they’ve also revealed the full cast with a fun teaser video.

Jenna Ortega returns to lead the new season as Wednesday Addams, with Luis Guzmán returning as Gomez Addams and Catherine Zeta-Jones back as Morticia Addams.

The Season 2 cast also includes Joy Sunday as Bianca, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama, Emma Myers as Enid, Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, Billie Piper as Capri, and Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn, along with Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor.

Additionally, guest stars for Season 2 include Jamie McShane, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joonas Suotamo, Fred Armisen, and Christopher Lloyd.

I should note that Lloyd played Uncle Fester in the live-action Addams Family movies, while Armisen plays Fester in the Wednesday series. It will be interesting to see who he plays in this.

Netflix also revealed that Wednesday Season 2: Chapter One is titled “Here We Woe Again,” with Tim Burton directing!

The series is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.” The series follows…

“Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar created the series and also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Tim Burton directed the first four episodes of Season 1 and is also an executive producer on the project.

When previously talking about what we can expect from Season 2, Ortega said: “We’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror but it’s really, really exciting because all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes and that’s the wonderful thing about her.”

She continued: “There’s really, really good one-liners, and I think everything’s bigger, it’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”

Hopefully, Season 2 will be just as fun as Season 1! I also included a cast photo.

Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Discovery) has jumped into her next big franchise project with Prime Video’s Blade Runner 2099, which is a limited series sequel following the events of Blade Runner 2049.

While there are no story details to share, we know from the title that the story will be set 50 years after the sequel, which was set 30 years after the original. It’s going to be interesting to see what this series ends up being.

Ridley Scott is producing the project and he will also reportedly direct some episodes of the show. Amazon Studios also hired director Jeremy Podeswa (Station 11, Game of Thrones) to helm the pilot episode.

Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) is set to serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Michael Green, who wrote the film Blade Runner 2049, will serve as a non-writing executive producer, along with Alcon Entertainment co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Other producers include Alcon’s head of television Ben Roberts, David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger from Scott Free Productions, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, and Isa Dick Hackett. Tom Spezialy are part of the writer’s room and also will serve as an executive producer.

Production recently began overseas in Prague.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has offered an update on Marvel Studios’ new movie and series rollout plan. They will now release no more than two to three movies and two shows per year.

So, up to five Marvel projects a year. That’s still a lot of content in a year, but they are going to make sure things don’t get out of hand.

Iger explained that this is part of Disney’s strategy to reduce output and focus on quality, a strategy “that’s particularly true with Marvel.”

He said: “We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two, or a maximum of three, and we’re working hard on what that path is.”

Iger went on to say that Marvel has “a couple of good films in ’25 and then we’re heading to more ‘Avengers,’ which we’re extremely excited about.”

He added: “Overall, I feel great about the slate. It’s something that I’ve committed to spending more and more time on. The team is one that I have tremendous confidence in and the IP that we’re mining, including all the sequels that we’re doing, is second to none.”

As of right now, though, the 2025 release calendar has four films coming from Marvel Studios including Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, The Fantastic Four, and Blade.

There are also four Marvel movies set for 2026, including the fifth Avengers movie. This year, 2024, we are only getting one Marvel movie with Deadpool & Wolverine, because that will make all of the money.

In regards to the TV side of things, Iger says that a portion of the upcoming series are “a vestige of basically a desire in the past to increase volume.” Those upcoming shows include Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Daredevil: Born Again, and Iron Heart.

Iger talked about Disney’s focus on sequels and original films saying that the focus is more on franchise films: “We’re gonna balance sequels with originals. Specifically in animation, we had gone through a period where our original films and animation, both Disney and Pixar, were dominating. We’re now swinging back a bit to lean on sequels.”

I hate that they are going to lean on sequels. Some of those upcoming sequels include Inside Out 2 and Toy Story 5.

What are your thoughts on Marvel’s release plan? Hopefully, the quality of the films will be better moving forward.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has screened for some critics and their reactions have surfaced online. It shouldn’t surprise you that they all loved what director George Miller delivered!

Everything that I’ve seen from this movie from the trailers and footage that I’ve watched has been awesome! I’m beyond excited about this movie, and it’s awesome to see that the movie is likly going to live up to expectations.

In the film, "As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is scheduled to hit theaters on May 24, 2024.

James Gunn recently shared a first look image from his Superman movie featuring David Corenswet suiting up as the Man of Steel.

For the most part, fans liked the image, but the suit is definitely being debated among fans. There’s also another interesting debate that’s been sparked.

Gunn has been teasing for a long time that this movie will give fans a brighter and more optimistic take on the Man of Steel, and some fans believe that’s the tone the first photo should’ve had.

One of our readers said in the comments: “I thought he'd debut with like an All Star pic, bright, vibrant, and optimistic. This is supposed to set the tone and it looks just as dark as MOS.” Superman also looks completely unconcerned as the city is being attacked.

I’ll be honest, I was expecting the same thing from the first look at Superman. While I have no doubt this movie is going to be vibrant, hopefully, bright, and optimistic, it would’ve been great to see that version of Superman that fans have been waiting for in the first look.

That image will come in time, though. In the meantime, we know what the Superman suit is going to look like, and this also captures another tone of the film, something a bit on the darker side, but at the same time it’s vibrant.

Again, I like the photo! But, I’m waiting to see that money shot of Superman that captures everything we love about the character. This one doesn’t do that.

What are your thoughts on the first look photo? Would you have liked to see Superman in a brighter more optimistic manner?

It sounds like director Fede Alvarez has a lot of fun with the actors while shooting his upcoming sci-fi horror film, Alien: Romulus.

According to the film’s star, Cailee Spaeny, the director threw some surprises at the actors while they were shooting the movie, and they actually felt some genuine “pure terror.”

Spaeny shared: “I remember we did one specific take of a scene where I'm with the Xenomorph and [director Fede Álvarez] kept it rolling for about…oh God, it felt like half an hour, but it was probably only 10 minutes,”

She went on to say: “It was just pure terror for 10 minutes straight, with the Xenomorph right there. Fede was great at throwing in little surprises like that and catching us actors off-guard.”

That sounds like it would have been a blast! Especially while shooting on the awesome sets that were built for the film. It also helped that a lot of the effects were practical.

The Xenomorph creatures were brought to life using puppetry and animatronics, and Spaeny also offered some additional insight on this aspect of the film.

She explained: “We definitely had moments where all of us kids would be in the tent getting ready to go on set, and the practical effects guys would come in like, ‘Do you want to hear a story from the old days? Gather ‘round, kids.’”

She added: “They would tell us about crazy on-set experiences working in this world. They were like campfire stories for us. Those were our favorite things to hear.”

What an incredibly cool experience that must’ve been for everyone!

Alien: Romulus follows a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”

The pitch that Alvarez initially made is said to be a “really good story with a bunch of characters you haven’t seen before.” The movie is also going to be terrifying as it leans into the horror aspect of the franchise. That’s why I’m excited!

The story is set between Ridley Scott’s Alien and Cameron’s Aliens and the same team that worked on Aliens returned to work on this movie.

The movie also stars Isabela Merced, who is also joined by Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and newcomer Aileen Wu.

Alvarez is directing from his script written by Rodo Sayagues. Ridley Scott is also a producer on the movie along with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler) for Scott Free, with Brent O’Connor (Bullet Train), Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion) and Tom Moran (The Donut King) serving as executive producers.

Alien: Romulus is set to hit theaters on August 16th.

Over the years William Shatner has talked about the possibility of returning to the role of Captain Kirk in a Star Trek project, and it seems like he’s keeping the door open.

During a recent interview with Canadian Press the actor explained that he wouldn’t rule out returning as Captain Kirk in a new Star Trek project if the script impressed him.

Shatner said: “It’s an intriguing idea. It’s almost impossible. But if it was a great role and so well-written and if there were a reason to be there not just to make a cameo appearance, but if there were a genuine reason for the character appearing, I might consider it.”

Now, Shatner is 93 years old, and if he did come back for Star Trek, he wouldn’t mind a little of that de-aging technology being used on him.

The actor added: “[It] takes years off of your face, so that in a film you can look 10, 20, 30, 50 years younger than you are.”

Harrison Ford went through that process in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and that ended up looking great!

As for how Kirk could return, because he died in the 1994 film Star Trek Generations, which is the last time Shatner appeared in the iconic sci-fi franchise, Shatner already thought that through.

He shared his idea, saying: “A company that wants to freeze my body and my brain for the future might be a way of going about it. ‘We’ve got Captain Kirk’s brain frozen here.’ There’s a scenario. ‘Let’s see if we can bring back a little bit of this, a little salt, a little pepper. Oh, look at that. Here comes Captain Kirk!’”

I seriously doubt we’ll ever see Shatner back in the role of Kirk, but is that something you would like to see happen?

As of right now, Paramount Pictures still is trying to figure out what to do with the film franchise. They have not been able to get their crap together for some reason.

The latest news on that is the studios Andor director Toby Haynes will direct from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith. That movie is said to take place decades before the original 2009 Star Trek feature.

There are so many movies with elements of romance, even if that’s not the leading theme in the film. We see people kiss onscreen all the time, and sometimes it’s more believable than others, but you don’t usually think twice about how the actors felt when making the scene.

Emily Blunt has starred in many films which featured an onscreen kiss, many times opposite big name actors, and as it turns out, not all of her experiences were great.

During a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show (via People), Blunt opened up about how she’s had to fake chemistry over the years with certain co-stars she struggled to connect with on set.

Blunt has acted opposite many high-profile leading men throughout her career, from Matt Damon (The Adjustment Bureau) to Tom Cruise (Edge of Tomorrow), Dwayne Johnson (Jungle Cruise), Ryan Gosling (The Fall Guy) and Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer).

“Have you wanted to throw up?” Stern asked Blunt about kissing some of her male co-stars during filming. The Oscar-nominated actor responded: “Absolutely. Absolutely. I wouldn’t say it’s sort of extreme loathing, but I’ve definitely not enjoyed some of it.”

Blunt declined to name any co-star she couldn’t generate chemistry with, but she did say: “I have had chemistry with people who… I have not had a good time working with them.” She continued:

“Sometimes it’s a strange thing. Sometimes you could have a rapport that’s really effortless, but it doesn’t translate onscreen. Chemistry is this strange thing. It’s an ethereal thing that you can’t really bottle up and buy or sell. It’s like there or it’s not…It’s just easier when you have a natural rapport with someone.”

Blunt has been acting for so long that at this point she has a formula down for how to build chemistry, saying:

“I’ve got to find something I love about everybody. I have to find something … Even if it’s one thing. It might be that they have a nice laugh or I like how they speak to people. They’re polite. I mean, it might be something random. But find something you love about that person or something you love about them as the character and then kind of lean into that.”

Emily Blunt is a great actress, and she has done a wonderful job of making us feel like she truly was the character she portrayed in each project, even if that meant faking the enjoyment of kissing someone who made her want to hurl.

Dark Horse Comics and Mattel have teamed up for a new limited comic series for Masters of the Universe: Revolution. This is a four-issue prequel to the upcoming Netflix series of the same name, and we have an exclusive preview for you to check out!

This variant cover, illustrated by Masters of the Universe veteran Tim Seeley and colored by Brad Simpson, highlights a variety of characters from the animated show.

Ahsoka co-star Ivanna Sakhno has found her next big project. She is set to star alongside Allison Williams and Violet McGraw in Atomic Monster and Blumhouse’s M3GAN 2.0.

Akela Cooper (Malignant, M3GAN), who wrote the first film, which was a big hit, will once again write the sequel with Gerard Johnstone also returning to direct.

When previously talking about the sequel, producer James Wan teased, "It's early yet, but M3GAN is coming back in a big way. The first film came just at the right time [when concerns about AI were mounting], and we're definitely leaning into that on the next one. We're exploring the AI universe even further."

During a previous interview, Johnstone opened up about the sequel and when asked if he would try to replicate the viral aspects of the first movie, he said: "I think if you do that, you are kind of setting yourself up to fail, and the audience will smell that a mile away.

He continued: “I think for me, what works about the movie and what I think people are responding to is that it's fun and absurd and full of lots of pleasant surprises."

Johnstone went on to say: "And so looking at the sequel, those are my sort of paragons that I'm just trying to follow is like, how can we continue to be fun, absurd, surprising, but at the same time make sure that we continue to be part of the cultural conversation, I guess.”

He added: “In addition to the dance, we're not too heavy-handed about it, but there are themes about co-parenting in the age of A.I. and things like that. So it's important to have some substance to hang all of those dance sequences onto."

There are no details to share on the sequel or any information on who Sakhno will be playing, but It’ll be fun to see what this next chapter of the evil AI story entails.

Director Joachim Rønning has wrapped production on Tron: Ares and he’s shared a few behind-the-scenes photos for the fans.

The photos came with the following caption: “That’s a wrap on TRON:ARES 🥏 Thanks to an incredible and tireless crew, I really believe we pushed the filmmaking limits on this movie.

“Even through six weeks of night shoots you never slowed down. Also, a big thank you to our wonderful cast for leaving everything on screen. I can’t wait to show the world what we’ve done 🥏🥏🥏 #TronAres 📷”

This is exciting! Tron fans have been waiting for another chapter in the Tron story, and I really hope that the creative team will deliver another great sci-fi adventure film!

The film follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, “who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”

The movie stars Jared Leto, Cameron Monaghan (Star Wars Jedi), Evan Peters (WandaVision), Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith (Without Remorse), Greta Lee, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson.

Jeff Bridges is also returning to the world of Tron, which is awesome! It’ll be interesting to see how his character will factor into the story.

Rønning previously talked about the movie saying: "I’m excited to be part of the TRON franchise and bring this new film to fans around the world.

“TRON: Ares builds upon the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid."

Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne wrote the script. The film arrives in theaters on October 10, 2025.

Here’s an amusing trailer for an upcoming indie comedy film titled The Last Movie Ever Made. The film is about a guy who embarks on a journey to make a movie after he finds out the world is ending.

In the story, “When Marshall (Adam Rini) finds out the world is ending in thirty days, he embarks on a mission to finally give his life some meaning… to shoot the unfinished sci-fi movie he abandoned in high school.

“He must quickly rekindle old relationships, forge new ones, and lock down some decent equipment if he has any hope of completing the long-lost sci-fi epic.”

The film was helmed by Arizona-based filmmaker Nathan Blackwell, and it also stars Megan Hughes Rini, Craig Curtis, Dallas Teat, and Logan Blackwell.

This looks like a pretty charming movie, and it will be released direct-to-VOD on May 7th, 2024.

BAFTA winner and Golden Globe-nominated actor James McAvoy (Atonement, The Last King of Scotland, Split) is making his directorial debut with the upcoming film California Schemin’ (working title). The movie is heading to the Cannes market with Bankside and UTA Independent Film Group.

McAvoy will take on a supporting role in the movie, which will be led by BAFTA-nominated How To Have Sex breakout Samuel Bottomley, and newcomer Séamus McLean Ross, who is currently filming on Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

The film will chart the true story of two Scottish lads from Dundee who conned the international music industry by adopting American accents and pretending to be established Californian rap duo, Silibil N’ Brains.

In the late ‘90s, Gavin Bain (McLean Ross) and Billy Boyd (Bottomley) had their musical ambitions consistently ridiculed for having the ‘wrong’ accents so they went for broke and reinvented themselves as Californian rappers.

McAvoy’s movie will show how the duo re-recorded their own tracks with fake accents and turned up in London claiming to be an established duo on the Cali scene as well as childhood friends with Eminem. They quickly bagged themselves a record deal, a hefty sum in advances, and an appearance on MTV…until it all came crashing down.

Currently in pre-production, the feature is based on Bain’s autobiography of the same name, which was later re-printed as Straight Outta Scotland. The story was later adapted into the 2013 SXSW documentary The Great Hip Hop Hoax.

Archie Thomson (Deep State 2) adapted the screenplay, and Kahleen Crawford will be serving as casting director.

George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace returned to theaters this past weekend for its 25th anniversary, and the movie ended up having a surprisingly good run at the box office.

The Phantom Menace opened at #2 this weekend with an impressive $8.1 million at the North American box office. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt’s The Fall Guy came in at #1 with its $28.5 million opening, which was a big disappointment.

I ended up attending one of The Phantom Menace screenings because I haven’t seen it on the big screen since it was first released in theaters and I walked out of it very disappointed.

I had more fun watching this on the big screen this time around. While the movie is far from perfect, I’ve come to appreciate it more over the years, and watching the Duel of the Fates lightsaber on the big screen again was worth the price of admission!

Also, it was fun to be with an audience filled with fans cheering and laughing and just having a good time while watching the movie. It was a good way to celebrate May The 4th!

The Phantom Menace was originally released in 1999 and over the years it has made over $1 billion worldwide thanks to all of the previous re-releases, including a 3D conversion.

The Phantom Menace sets the stage for the saga with a tale of political intrigue and the rise of Darth Vader. The Galactic Republic is in turmoil as Trade Federation forces blockade the peaceful planet of Naboo.

Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are dispatched to negotiate, only to find themselves embroiled in a sinister plot orchestrated by the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious.

Along the way, they encounter young Anakin Skywalker, a slave with a strong connection to the Force. As they navigate treacherous alliances and face off against the formidable Sith apprentice Darth Maul, the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance, laying the groundwork for the epic conflict yet to come.

Nicolas Cage and FKA Twigs (The Crow) are set to star in a new horror film inspired by Jesus titled The Carpenter’s Son.

This is going to be an interesting film as it will explore “the rarely told story of the childhood of Jesus with a horror take.” The synopsis for the movie reads: “The Carpenter’s Son tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt.

“The son, known only as ‘the Boy’, is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the Carpenter, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension.

“As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural and divine.”

The movie is being helmed by director Lofty Nathan (Harka), who has “taken inspiration from the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Thomas for the screenplay. Dating back to the 2nd Century AD, the text recounts the childhood of Jesus.”

Nicolas Cage is playing the Carpenter, FKA Twigs the Mother, and Noah Jupe will take on the role of the Boy. The movie also stars Souheila Yacoub.

This is sure to be another crazy movie for Cage to star in!

Chris Pine was the love interest of Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, in the first two films of director Patty Jenkins’s DC franchise for Warner Bros.

The first film was a box office smash hit, beloved by fans and critics alike. The second film was unfortunately not a hit, and though a third film was in the works, the studio backpedaled and canceled the project amid the change when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as heads of DC.

When Pine recently spoke to Business Insider while promoting his feature directorial debut, Poolman, he was asked about Wonder Woman, and he said he’s struggling to understand how Warner Bros. could pull the plug on a franchise that grossed the studio nearly $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

“I’m stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere. I don’t know what the reasoning was behind that; it’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character; Patty is such a thoughtful director.”

Pine said that he doubted he would’ve returned for Wonder Woman 3 had it been made, as his character is “dead” and “gonzo,” adding, “It would be ridiculous to try to bring me back.” He also remembered originally being skeptical of the role of Steve Trevor.

“I had no interest in playing the boyfriend, and it sounded like second fiddle. Then, in talking to Patty, the way she described it was, ‘Forget the superhero of it all, this is a romance, this is ‘Casablanca,’ that’s the movie I want to make.’ I was like, oh, now that is very cool because when have you seen a superhero film that was a love story, ultimately? That had nothing to do with blowing shit up.”

The first movie was so, so good. The second one missed the mark, but I feel like Jenkins and Gadot were worthy of one more movie together.

If Gunn decides to start over with a new Wonder Woman, he will have some big shoes to fill.

Apple and Lucasfilm have collaborated on a new Star Wars-themed commercial promoting the iPhone 15 “Precision Finding for Find My Friends” feature.

The ad was directed by Kim Gehrig and it follows a Mandalorian cosplayer, played by real-life fan Owen, “as he journeys to meet up with friends at a local con.

“He starts off the day feeding his cat, Leia, and checking for the essentials (“Keys, phone, thermal detonator”), before heading out. He picks up a boba tea (naturally), grabs the bus, and uses his iPhone 15 to chat with and find his Mandalorian clan.

“Finally together, they share greetings and some in-sync head-bobs to Channel Tres’ ‘All My Friends,’ with the lyric ‘5:02, past the curfew’ changed to ‘5:01,’ in a nod from the artist to the 501st Legion fan group. Jardiniano and pals then blast off…up the escalator.”

Owen talked about this experience, saying: “Oh, it's great. It still doesn't feel real to me. It was just wonderful, really, being able to do all this.”

Focus Features has released another trailer for writer and director Jeff Nichols’ (Midnight Special, Mud) motorcycle drama The Bikeriders, which looks like a great movie.

The film is inspired by true events, and it’s set in the 1960s and follows a decade in the lives of a motorcycle club. It looks like a great flick! The Bikeriders follows the rise of a fictional 1960s Midwestern motorcycle club through the lives of its members.

Inspired by Danny Lyon’s iconic book of photography, The Bikeriders “immerses you in the look, feel, and sounds of the bare-knuckled, grease-covered subculture of ’60s motorcycle riders.”

The synopsis for the movie reads: “Kathy, a strong-willed member of the Vandals who’s married to a wild, reckless bikerider named Benny, recounts the Vandals’ evolution over the course of a decade, beginning as a local club of outsiders united by good times, rumbling bikes, and respect for their strong, steady leader Johnny.”

Over the years, “Kathy tries her best to navigate her husband’s untamed nature and his allegiance to Johnny, with whom she feels she must compete for Benny’s attention. As life in the Vandals gets more dangerous, and the club threatens to become a more sinister gang, Kathy, Benny, and Johnny are forced to make choices about their loyalty to the club and to each other.”

The cast for the film includes Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook, and Norman Reedus.

It’s also explained that most of the cast did their own riding on an array of period-correct bikes. The Bikeriders opens in U.S. theaters on June 21st.

A new clip from Deadpool & Wolverine has surfaced online, and it features a fun scene between Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and Logan (Hugh Jackman), and there’s a fun little meta Paul Rudd joke included that you're sure to get a kick out of.

This clip comes from a Deadpool & Wolverine IMAX trailer that is currently playing in theaters, and it’s made its way online for you to enjoy. I also included a new CCXP Mexico poster for the movie over the weekend.

In this story, Deadpool is recruited by the TVA to save the Sacred Timeline and he recruits Wolverine to help him with the job. This is a journey that Wolverine initially doesn’t want any part of. But after a big mutant brawl, he signs up.

In the film, “After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis. Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman.

“But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival but ultimately, their legacy."

It’s also explained: "That f–king irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?"

Shawn Levy is directing the movie and the confirmed cast for the movie includes Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen as a TVA Agent, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.

They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna, who will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.

The film adaptation of Stephen King’s horror thriller Thinner is not considered one of the best King adaptations, but it does tell an interesting story.

The story revolves around a morbidly obese lawyer named Billy Halleck, who accidentally runs over an elderly Romani woman while driving under the influence. Due to his connections, Halleck manages to escape serious legal consequences, but the Romani woman's father, Tadzu Lempke, places a curse on him by touching his cheek and saying "thinner."

As a result, Halleck begins losing weight rapidly and uncontrollably, even though he continues to eat normally. Desperate to break the curse, he seeks help from various sources, including the law, medicine, and eventually the Romani community. However, as his weight continues to plummet, Halleck's life spirals into chaos, leading to a gripping and supernatural tale of revenge and redemption.

The film had a long hard road to getting made as it was constantly being rejected by studios and it spent a good five years in development hell. But, when the movie finally did get made, Robert John Burke was cast in the lead role. However, King originally wanted John Candy to star in the film.

This bit of information was revealed on the exclusive special features on the recently released Thinner Blu-ray in a commentary track featuring an interview with producer Mitchell Galin. He explained that they actually reached out to John Candy and made an offer. This was not a joke, they also wanted to use the opportunity as a means to help the actor lose weight. Galin explained that a legitimate effort was made to cast Candy, but it didn’t work out. He said:

“We did reach out to [John] Candy’s people. Steve’s comment was like, ‘We’ll pay him a nice chunk of money, and we’ll save his life.’ (laughs) And for whatever reason – Candy was either busy, or he didn’t spark to [the material]… I really have no idea. At some point, you put it out there, if it doesn’t get the response you want, at the end of the day, I really don’t care. Unless it’s something needful, a person that can help you in the process of moving forward.”

Taking the part would have required John Candy to go significantly outside of his comedic wheelhouse, and do some dramatic acting. Galin continued, saying:

“The fact is he didn’t spark to the material or didn’t want to do it; whatever the reason, you respect it, and you go, ‘These people make decisions all the time, make those creative decisions.’ And you got to be respectful that they know what they can do and what they can’t do. Sometimes they’re right, sometimes they’re wrong, but that’s not for you to make that determination. So, we did reach out to him, we didn’t get positive feedback, and then we started the process of looking for the lead, and I was a big fan of Robert Burke.”

Robert John Burke ended up wearing a fat suit and had extensive makeup work done for the scenes early in the film when the character was at his biggest. The makeup and stuff didn’t look very good, but over the course of shooting the film, the actor did end up losing 20 pounds.

Had Candy taken the role, it would have been a very ambitious thing, but for the actor to lose so much weight over the short course of filming seems unpractical. But, I can’t help but wonder how things would’ve turned out had Candy said yes.

Director Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus will see the youngest crew in an Alien movie yet facing off with the horrific and deadly xenomorph.

The filmmaker was looking for a unique spin for his story and one of those things is his young crew, which was inspired by a deleted scene from James Cameron’s Aliens which showed kids running around a space colony.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Alvarez talked about the young crew in his movie and offered some interesting insight.

The director explained: “My first instinct, just to try something different that hasn't been seen before, was to approach it from the angle of characters who are not professionals or scientists; they're not even adults.

“I liked this concept of putting people in the front seat of the story who are closer to what the audience is — not that the audience is young, more that the audience is completely virgin to the realities of space.

“When the characters are professionals, they know more than you do. But when they’re still in their early 20s, they don’t know how to operate the f---ing airlock.” 

It’s also revealed that the relationship of these characters are siblings, and the title of the film is in reference to that, “with its invocation of the two mythical brothers who supposedly founded Rome.”

Alvarez goes on to talk about the history of the character, saying: “All their parents probably worked on the same ship when they were kids, and that’s how they got to know each other. There’s a lot of history between them because they're the only family they have.”

He continued: “They truly act more like surrogate siblings; some of them even lived under the same roof. A lot of the big themes of the movie are about siblinghood and what does that mean? The Romulus of it all, and the bigger plot with Weyland-Yutani, is actually connected to that as well.” 

Also, this wouldn’t be a proper Alien movie without a synthetic character on the ship. It’ explained by star Cailee Spaeny: “In this one, Rain's brother is a synthetic. She loves him like her brother, but there are difficulties growing up with a synthetic, and some of the challenges that she faces during the film are related.

She added: “That relationship dynamic is really interesting to flip on its head; it was really fun to explore having a synthetic as a family member and the questions it poses. David Jonsson, who plays that character, was so brilliant and really nailed that performance.”

Alien: Romulus follows a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.”

The pitch that Alvarez initially made is said to be a “really good story with a bunch of characters you haven’t seen before.” The movie is also going to be terrifying as it leans into the horror aspect of the franchise. That’s why I’m excited!

The story is set between Ridley Scott’s Alien and Cameron’s Aliens and the same team that worked on Aliens returned to work on this movie.

The movie also stars Isabela Merced, who is also joined by Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and newcomer Aileen Wu.

Alvarez is directing from his script written by Rodo Sayagues. Ridley Scott is also a producer on the movie along with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler) for Scott Free, with Brent O’Connor (Bullet Train), Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion) and Tom Moran (The Donut King) serving as executive producers.

Alien: Romulus is set to hit theaters on August 16th.

When it was announced that Jennifer Garner's Elektra would appear in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, a lot of fans assumed that rumors of Ben Affleck showing up as Daredevil were true.

Well, according to a new report from inside scooper Daniel Richtman, Affleck will not appear as Daredevil in Deadpool & Wolverine, but he still could show up in the MCU at some point.

According to the insider, Affleck has had discussions about taking on a different role in the MCU. There’s no word on who that character would be, but it won’t be Daredevil.

Now, Affleck was reportedly spotted on the set of Deadpool & Wolverine, but it wasn’t confirmed one who he was playing. So, there’s a chance that Affleck could appear in the Deadpool movie, but not as Daredevil.

I’m just going to throw this out, but wouldn’t it be insane if he showed up as Batman!? There have been rumblings of one DC character who might appear in the movie, but it wasn’t Affleck. But, what if Affleck joined that character?

That’s just my own fan speculation! Affleck could have met with Feige about any number of characters that could appear in the MCU at any point in the future.

I’m really curious to see if anything ever comes of this. If Affleck does appear in the MCU as a Marvel character, what character would you like that to be!?

Vin Diesel’s fourth Riddick movie, Riddick: Furya, is scheduled to officially start on August 26th, and will shoot in Germany, Spain, and the UK.

Diesel has been teasing this movie for years, and now it looks like it’s actually going to get made with franchise writer and director David Twohy back at the helm.

Diesel will reprise his role as the anti-hero Richard B. Riddick, a dangerous escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the galaxy.

In Riddick: Furya, “Riddick finally returns to his home world, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.”

Diesel previously shared the tagline for the movie, which is: “Everyone wants to be a beast, until it’s time to do what real beasts do."

Twohy previously said in a statement: “Our legion of fans have demanded it for years, and now we’re finally ready to honor their call-to-action with Riddick: Furya.”

He added: “My collaboration with Vin and One Race has spanned 20 fruitful years, as together we’ve created three movies, two video games, an anime production, and motion comics for the internet. This new big-screen event will see a return to Riddick’s homeworld, where we finally get to explore Riddick’s genesis.”

I’ve enjoyed the films in the Riddick franchise and I’m looking forward to seeing how this next chapter of Riddick’s story plays out.

An intriguing new report has surfaced regarding Captain America: Brave New World. Rumor has it that it will introduce Adamantium to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, the movie will include Adamantium, which is a virtually indestructible metal substance. There are other details revealed that may be spoilers, so proceed at your own risk.

As you know, Wolverine has an adamantium skeleton as he was a test subject for the Weapon X Project, which bonded his skeleton with the metal through an experimental process.

That process involved drilling into his body and enhancing his strength and speed to compensate for the added weight of his new skeleton.

It’s said the source of the metal in the MCU comes from the remains of the frozen Celestial Tiamut and that Japan will be the first country to figure out how it can be turned into metal.

It’s in this process that they learn Adamantium can absorb radiation, which makes it effective against any Hulk. Japan's Adamantium reserves are said to be stolen by The Leader.

It also means that there’s a chance that we could see Silver Samurai at some point!

This information hasn’t been confirmed, but it would be interesting how Marvel plays with this if it ends up being true. There’s definitely some really cool stuff to play with here!

In the film, Anthony Mackie is back in the role of Sam Wilson, who is now Captain America. The movie also stars Liv Tyler, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rosa Salazar, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly.

Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) is directing the film from a script penned by Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman, both of whom wrote for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Spellman will produce with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

Captain America: Brave New World arrives on February 14, 2025.

A new report has surfaced that crunched the numbers for some of the biggest superhero movie bombs, and it turns out Marvel’s The Marvels lost more money than expected. It ended up losing more money than The Flash.

While the first Captain Marvel movie made over $1 billion at the box office, The Marvels only brought in $206.1 million globally. According to Deadline, when all is said and done, the movie made a net loss of $237 million!

That kind of loss definitely hurts, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of these characters. I just don’t think they will ever star in their own movie again. Moving forward, they will probably only be utilized in team-up films.

Monica’s story will continue at some point in a Multiversal story after landing in the same reality as the X-Men. A Ms. Marvel Variant is said to next appear in the Marvel Zombies animated series. As for Captain Marvel, her story will most likely continue in the upcoming Avengers movies. 

As for The Flash, it made $271.3 million worldwide and had a net loss of $155 million. The most successful superhero film of 2023 was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which made a profit of $124 million. 

Disney CEO Bob Iger previously blamed the failure of The Marvels on the lack of oversight it received while it was being made. He said: "Quality needs attention. ... It doesn't happen by accident.”

He added: “Quantity, in our case, diluted quality. There wasn't as much supervision on the set ... where we have executives there really looking over what's being done."

But, let’s be honest, executives rarely make a movie better. Most them aren’t very creative or talented. They are there to keep the budget and production in check.

Audiences are very wary of superhero films these days, but I think Deadpool & Wolverine is going to break through that. Marvel Studios has a huge hit on their hands with that movie!

Superman director James Gunn has shared a first-look photo from the film featuring David Corenswet suiting up as the Man of Steel.

This is our first look at the Superman suit in the movie and it’s definitely different from any of the suits we’ve seen before on the big screen, and it looks like it’s been through some heavy action. You can also see that this version of the suit will have the iconic red trunks.

It looks as if the suit is inspired by the Superman suit from the 2011 DC Comics' New 52 reboot, with some little variations.

In the photo, Clark Kent is preparing to patrol the Metropolis skyline as something crazy is happening in the city. I like the image and I can’t wait to see some actual footage!

Superman will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

Superman will launch the movie part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It’s scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.

While a new adaptation of James O'Barr’s The Crow is going to be released later this year, fans will be more happy to learn that director Alex Proyas and star Brandon Lee’s 1994 classic The Crow will be re-released in theaters for its 30th Anniversary!

Cinemark describes the movie: "The modern-gothic original that entranced audiences and critics alike, The Crow tells the tale of a young musician brutally murdered alongside his beloved fiancée, only to be risen from the grave by a mysterious crow. Seeking revenge, he battles a criminal underground that must answer for its crimes.

“Adapted from the comic book saga of the same name, this action-packed thriller from director Alex Proyas (Dark City) features hypnotic style, dazzling visuals, and a soulful performance by the late Brandon Lee.

The Crow will be returning to theaters later this month on May 29th. The upcoming reboot is coming to theaters on August 23rd.

Some new story details have surfaced for Deadpool & Wolverine revealing some very interesting and kinda spoilery details.

Kevin Feige recently shared that the stakes in this film’s story “are universe-sized,” and this new synopsis teases what that means.

The following details were shared on Zazzle.com with its wide range of tie-in products. The breakdown of the story reads:

"Not only will [Deadpool and Wolverine] be working to defeat a range of villains plaguing the Marvel universe, bub, but they’ll be gate-crashing the MCU franchise, too, and putting their own R-rated, 20th Century Fox-styled twist on some of our favorite moments from Phases 1-4!"

This is actually something that was teased in the trailer that was released. At one point we see Deadpool involved with the attack at the HYDRA Research Base in Avengers: Age of Ultron. So, that is going to be one of many moments from the MCU that Deadpool crashes.

If this is the case, there’s a very good chance that we will see some of the original Avengers cast members return, and possibly interact with Deadpool, which will be hilarious to see!

Now, the filmmakers could just reuse older footage, but I don’t think that will be the case. If Marvel is going to do this, they are going to go all the way!

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26th!

Director David Leitch has seen a lot of success with his fun and action-packed films Deadpool 2, Bullet Train, and most recently, The Fall Guy, so he seems like a good match for the Jurassic World franchise. He was tied to helm the fourth film, which is due out next summer, but ultimately walked away from the project, and he’s opening up a bit about why.

In a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Leitch talked about his time on the film and his departure, saying:

“We have the privilege of choice and that’s daunting. And it’s true though, and we’ve kind of earned it, in terms of the movies that we’ve made and the successes they’ve had, and hopefully continued success, but to be asked to be in those worlds, you want to take those conversations seriously, and we are creative to find our ways in to a lot of things. So it was a really great conversation to have, to be in talks with Steven and Frank, about that franchise that is so dear to us, it was a really beautiful time.”

Leitch continued:

“Ultimately, you have to do what’s best for the movie at hand and do what’s best for you as an artist. And make sure that you’re making the same movie, and you could do it within the parameters, and at some point we just said—we wanted to give that answer quickly because they have to go make this movie quickly that everyone is excited to see and I think that they’ve landed on, obviously, a brilliant director, who we love and respect and… it’s gonna be amazing.”

The film is now being directed by Gareth Edwards, who has directed films like Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and most recently The Creator. So it’s in good hands. It’s too bad that Leitch didn’t get to see his vision take form, but it sounds like the studio had a vision in mind, and weren’t looking for someone to come in and shake it up.

Jurassic World 4 is set to hit theatres on July 2nd, 2025.

20th Century Studios is developing a new Maze Runner movie and Jack Paglen (Transcendence) is in talks to write the film.

The movie is said to be a continuation of the story of the last three films, but it won’t be a direct sequel. There’s no information given on what the plot of the film will be.

The Maze Runner is a dystopian YA book series written by James Dashner, and it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, where a group of young survivors must navigate deadly mazes, treacherous landscapes, and sinister organizations as they uncover the truth about their past and fight for their freedom.

I liked the first three films that were directed by Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes). Those films included The Maze Runner (2014), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), and Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018).

While the films were good, I really don’t feel the need to revisit that world. The new film will most likely just rehash the first story, anyway. Hollywood is predictable like that.

Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman of Gotham Group and Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill have returned to produce the new film alongside Ball.

It was a long road for Ryan Reynolds to get Deadpool & Wolverine set up at Marvel Studios after Disney bought 20th Century Fox.

Kevin Feige wasn’t initially sure what to do with the character or how exactly to incorporate him into the MCU. Even though he kept saying they wouldn’t compromise the R-rated aspect of the character, Feige kept passing on the pitches that Reynolds was making.

Reynolds’ first pitch to Feige was a “Rashomon story about Wolverine and Deadpool and something that they got into together.” Reynolds explained to Empire that the story was “told from three completely different perspectives. It was a way to make a large-scale movie in a very small way.”

A Rashomon-style story is where the same event is recounted by several characters, and the stories differ in ways that are impossible to reconcile. It shows that two or more people can view the same event quite differently.

Feige passed on that version of the film. Feige explained: “The truth is, I wasn’t even sure how to incorporate Deadpool yet.”

He added: “I was very much thinking about how to bring mutants and the X-Men into [the MCU], and I thought it needed to be more than just playing the hits. But the truth is, Ryan is an idea machine. So he may have pitched that to me, but he also pitched 25 other thoughts and ideas.”

Reynolds then confirmed: “I went back to the drawing board, and I wrote up about 18 different treatments. Some of them almost like a Sundance film, a budget of under $10 million, sort of using the IP in a way that they previously hadn’t used, and I pitched bigger movies, and I pitched things in-between.”

I would love to read those other treatments for the film! It would be fun to see the different scenarios that Reynolds envisioned for the third Deadpool movie.

After exploring lots of different avenues, they finally agreed on where to go with the story, and they are just going to let Deadpool be Deadpool.

Executive producer Wendy Jacobson added: “We definitely spun our wheels a little bit trying to find the reason for this movie to be. Once Hugh raised his hand, two months later we were prepping. It was honestly one of the fastest turnarounds I've ever seen.”

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace was released in theatres 25 years ago, and from the high highs to the low lows, actor Ahmed Best is able to reflect on the long road that took him to the divisive role of Jar Jar Binks, and beyond, facing initial backlash, and an eventual love from fans decades later.

Best spoke to People about the role, and described the process of being hired on the highly secretive and highly anticipated project. He was touring with the Stomp dance troupe in 1997 when a casting director offered an audition at Lucasfilm’s Skywalker Ranch. he won both the physical role and the voice.

He debuted the voice of his character at a table read with his cast mates – Liam Neeson, Jake Lloyd, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and others.

“This was the first time I was going to do the Jar Jar voice in front of people. And to be honest, I didn’t know if I was going to do it at that reading or not. I was like, ‘I might do it, I might not.’ And as I’m reading as the first few pages go by, I’m in my head, ‘Do I do this voice? Do I not do this voice? What do I do?

“Liam has this wonderfully resonant Irish, Mid-Atlantic voice that will just melt you. You know what I’m saying? So I was just like, ‘Everybody sounds so good. Am I going to do this voice or not?’ And then I see the character name coming up and I was like, ‘F— it.’ And I just do it. And everybody in the room goes crazy for it. So I was like, ‘OK, all right. I got that one out. I’m supposed to be here now.'”

Best went back and forth from New York to Industrial Light & Magic’s studios in San Francisco for two years to complete the CGI of the role. He got along well with everyone along the way.

“Everybody was respected, and nobody was bigger than the work. And I think that was the ethos that we took into doing the prequels. Star Wars is always going to be the thing. That’s the thing we’re working towards. So as much as we can make this world believable, these characters believable, these situations believable, that’s what we’re going to be. We’re not going to be stars above Star Wars. There’s nothing bigger than Star Wars. And I think that’s what made our cast really, really special.”

The cast was “in our little bubble” while filming, he said.

“So when you come out of that bubble, you’re like, ‘Oh man, everybody’s going to enjoy what we just did, because if you feel the way we felt while we were creating, it’s going to be amazing. But there were already kind of preconceived ideas about it, and there is already bubbling under, this online hatred. It was already being talked about even before the movie dropped.”

The online hate only grew after the release of the film in May 1999. It came for not just Jar Jar as a character, but also Best, who received death threats over his performance.

“It really wasn’t easy. I was very young. I was 26. And it’s hard to have this idea that the thing you’ve been working all your life for, you finally get it and you’re finally in the big leagues and the highest level of the game, and you hold your own. All of these years you’re just like, ‘I belong at the top of the game. I belong at the highest level. And then all of a sudden people pull the rug out from under you. And I was just like, ‘What is happening now?’ My career began and ended. I didn’t know what to do, and unfortunately there was really no one that could help me, because it was such a unique position; it had never happened before in history,” Best said.

“Especially with the internet component. Now there’s an entire field of psychology based on it. But at the time, what do I say to a psychologist? I just tried to do the best job that I could do. But George [Lucas] is untouchable and everybody was untouchable. Who wasn’t untouchable? Me. Everyone came at me.”

Best previously admitted he contemplated taking his own life during an early morning on the Brooklyn Bridge.

“I didn’t want to hurt my family like that,” Best now shares. “So it was something bigger than me that made me walk away. I still was lost. I still couldn’t find my footing, and I just felt the injustice of it all. How could I have achieved such a wonderful thing, and then nothing? Nothing. I was longing to continue. I wanted to continue this work. I wanted to continue moving in this direction and seeing what the CGI thing could turn into.”

Casting directors often thought the Jar Jar character was computer generated, and Best had to fight against that. “I was carrying this weight that it was just hard to shake.”

Best says Jar Jar’s Star Wars role diminished and disappeared in the two prequels that followed — specifically 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. After all, But like many fans, he hopes to eventually find out about Jar Jar’s fate.

“I would love just for there to be some really good closure, just to know what happened to Jar Jar. And then I don’t think it needs to be tragic,” Best says.

Best has turned out okay after all that. He worked as an adjunct lecturer at USC, appeared in Disney+’s Star Wars series The Mandalorian, and is a father of a 15-year-old son who “gets all my attention.”

Star Wars: Episode I —The Phantom Menace is now playing theaters ahead of its 25th anniversary on May 19.

The flagship series Yellowstone has seen such major success, from its huge fanbase to its multiple spinoff series, and viewers are hungry for more. The fifth season of the show has been set to be its last, with alleged scheduling conflicts that have star Kevin Costner leaving the show.

Right now, Yellowstone is planning to air its final episodes in November before launching a new, Costner-free spinoff series, 2024, in December.

But Costner, who plays patriarch John Dutton on the show, claims those final episodes haven’t come together just yet.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about his latest film, Horizon: An American Saga, Costner said that he still hasn’t connected with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan on making those final episodes.

“No, we haven’t [talked],” Costner said. However, he added that he’s open to working with Sheridan in the future, whether it’s Yellowstone-related or something new.

He went on: “He’s doing special work in a lot of different ways. He’s very prolific about the things he does, and if he sees me in something that he wants to do, I’ll look at it just the way I did Yellowstone and maybe we will end up doing something together.

“He likes a lot of the things that I like, and the idea of us working together is not out of the question for me. The subjects he chooses are very interesting to me. I like a lot of that stuff. Yellowstone stands as something that could continue. But that is a Taylor question. But other things that he’s doing I think are really, really good. He likes the same subjects that I do.”

The news from Costner’s side of the aisle has been very inconsistent. It seemed like he was walking away from the series, and now it seems like he’s hanging on. Who knows, but hopefully the series will be able to wrap each storyline in a way that does justice to the characters the viewers have grown to love.

It has been a back and forth battle between actor Pauly Shore and ‘80s fitness guru Richard Simmons, who Shore desperately wants to portray in a biopic, but it seems like the project is moving forward, with or without the support of Simmons.

The idea first came about when it was announced that Shore was going to star in the Sundance Film Festival short film “The Court Jester,” which saw him play Simmons in an uncanny likeness. Shore said he was hopeful that this would lead to a full biopic in which he could honor Simmons.

Simmons responded in a Facebook post, in which he said, “You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read.”

Shore then made a statement pleading that his feature would be all about love, and honoring Simmons, but Simmons was still hesitant to engage, then posting on X, “I just read that a man that I don’t know is writing my biopic starring Pauly Shore. I do not approve this movie. I am in talks with major studios to create my own biopic with some help. Wait for this movie.”

Subsequently, Shore said that he had been “up all night crying” in a lengthy Instagram caption on the subject matter. “Richard, you haven’t even heard the pitch. Why don’t you simply let me come over to your house, bring you some warm matzo ball soup and a pastrami sandwich with dark mustard from Canters, rub your feet, and we can listen to the writer, Jordan Allen-Dutton, pitch you our idea?”

Shore even stated that he hopes Simmons’s own biopic is made as well, and offered support and hope that many more movies are made about him. But at this point, aside from giving Simmons the opportunity to be involved, and assuring him that the film will honor him, the studio is ready to move forward with or without him.

The Wolper Organization, a Warner Bros. subsidiary, previously said in a statement: “While we would love to have [Simmons] involved, we respect his desire to privacy and plan to produce a movie that honors him, celebrates him and tells a dramatic story.

We know he is deeply private and we would never want to invade that, however he is an amazing person that changed millions of peoples’ lives, and the effect he has had on the world needs to be recognized.”

It really seems like Simmons should just hear the pitch, and support a project that is seemingly so eager to do his story justice. Shore looks so much like Simmons, and he does seem to have a sincere love for him. I hope he’s able to just enjoy the process and the film when it’s released.

Academy Award-winner Tilda Swinton (Suspiria, Doctor Strange) has joined the cast of the Edward Berger-directed (All Quiet On the Western Front) Netflix drama, The Ballad of a Small Player.

She joins previously announced star Colin Farrell (In Bruges, The Batman). Rowan Joffe is adapting the script that is is based on the novel by Lawrence Osborne.

Mike Goodridge is producing through his Good Chaos banner along with Berger for his Nine Hours banner as well as Matthew James Wilkinson for Stigma Films.

The story follows a high-stakes gambler who decides to lay low in Macau after his past and debts catch up with him. Along the way he encounters a kindred spirit who might just hold the key to his salvation. Production is due to start in Asia this summer.

The film marks the first project under Berger’s creative partnership and global first-look film deal with Netflix, via his company Nine Hours.

Swinton has recently been in production on Pedro Almodovar’s The Room Next Door and has Joshua Oppenheimer’s The End expected to launch later this year.

Later this year, Farrell has the anticipated Batman Max series The Penguin bowing in which he reprises his role as Gotham City’s most infamous gangster.

He is currently filming the Sony and Imperative drama A Big Bold Beautiful Journey opposite Margot Robbie.

Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids, Jojo Rabbit) has made a good career for herself, starring in mostly comedic roles that really kicked off in 2012 when the first Pitch Perfect movie came on the scene.

The franchise ended up making two successful sequels, and a spinoff series that didn’t last too long, but according to Wilson, we can anticipate a fourth film.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 2, the actress shared: "Hopefully, there's a fourth one in the works. There is one being developed.”

She added: “I mean, I know we're older now, so I don't exactly know what the storyline's going to be. I guess they've got to get the script right first, which is the age-old dilemma.” 

So it sounds like things are still super early stages, but it’s cool to hear that another one is in the works. I enjoy the campiness of those movies, and their fun soundtracks. We will let you know more as the sequel develops.

Actor Adam Scott stars in the Apple TV+ sci-fi drama Severance, which reeled fans in with its first season back in 2022, and left us on a crazy cliffhanger, wanting more to the story!

It’s been a long two year wait, and Scott says we don’t have to wait much longer. We recently reported that the second season had wrapped production, but we still don’t quite have a trailer or release date to let us know when the episodes with drop.

Scott recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter, and when asked about the show, he teased:

“I wish I could tell you and everybody about what’s coming up because it’s going to be so much fun. I can’t wait for people to see it, but I can’t say a word, but it’ll finally be coming out in the somewhat near future and I can’t wait for everyone to see it. That’s basically it. It was so much fun to make.”

The interviewer said they and all the other fans will be patiently waiting to watch, and Scott added, “Well, your patience doesn’t have to hold on too much longer.”

This is such great news! I can’t wait to see what happened to these characters.

Severance stars Adam Scott as a team leader at the super-secret company Lumon, where employees are voluntarily severed from their personal lives. When they enter the elevator to start their day, their minds are switched over to their work selves, who know nothing of what goes on outside, and vice versa. It also stars Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus and Christopher Walken. Severance was created by Dan Erickson, and is directed by Ben Stiller.

NECA has revealed a new action figure for its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line and it’s of legendary comic artist Jack Kirby.

As you know, Kirby is the creator of and co-creator of some of Marvel’s biggest and most popular superhero characters.

So, what is the connection to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Well, “Kirby” appeared as an artist character who interacted with Donatello in a 1986 comic.

The figure is 100% based on Kirby as the Kirby estate has to approve the figure’s likeness. It’s about time that Kirby got his own action figure!

In the comic, Kirby discovers a way to bring his drawings to life thanks to a pencil that is powered by a magic crystal, and even draw his way into another dimension.

The figure includes the pencil, sketchbook, various hands, a comic-style blaster weapon, and a creature in Kirby’s style with its own weapon.

This is the Thermonator, a robotic quadruped dog created by Throwflame and it is equipped with a proprietary Arc Flamethrower.

The videos show off the Thermonator in action, and show him blasting fire. It also comes with laser sighting, good battery life, Bluetooth compatibility, and obstacle avoidance.

Now before you think this is a bad idea, which is what I obviously first thought, the are a wide array of uses for it including Wildfire Control and Prevention, Agricultural Management, Ecological Conservation, Snow and Ice Removal, and Entertainment and SFX.

See! It’s all positive! There’s no way this thing will go rogue and run around setting people on fire!

It’s been almost a year since Kevin Spacey was found not guilty of sex crimes, but Channel 4 and Max will be releasing a new investigative docuseries titled Spacey Unmasked, which will feature testimony from more men talking about their experiences with the actor.

A teaser trailer was released for the series, which “investigates Spacey’s conduct and talks to multiple men unconnected to [last year’s] case about their experiences with Kevin Spacey, almost all of whom have never spoken before.”

It’s said the doc will “examine a man who was once one of the most admired and respected actors in the world. Featuring never-seen-before interviews and archive, Spacey Unmasked spotlights his life from childhood to early success on Broadway and subsequent meteoric rise to stardom, before his fall.”

The project has been two years in the making and it was produced by Oscar-nominee Mike Lerner and ex-Channel 4 News boss Dorothy Byrne.

The two-part doc will air on May 6th and 7th. May. It has been picked up by Max and ID in the U.S. following a deal between Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and distributor All3Media International.

Here’s a fun video that sees Morgan Freeman amusingly parodying Nicole Kidman's AMC Theatres ad, which has become a hit with movie-going audiences over the years.

In the parody video, Freeman sits down to watch numerous films that feature Kidman onscreen as he basks in the glory of her.

Freeman says: "She takes us somewhere we've never been before. Not just entertained, but somehow reborn. Somehow, she makes heartbreak feel good in a place like this."

The video was presented at a ceremony where Kidman was being honored by the American Film Institute. It was during this AFI Life Achievement celebration, where Freeman called out Moulin Rouge as his favorite Kidman role, while singing a few notes from Elton John's ‘Your Song.’

Freeman was previously awarded the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2011. Other recent winners include Steve Martin, Julie Andrews, George Clooney, and Mel Brooks.

When talking about her decision to be a part of these AMC Theatres ads, Kidman said: "It was just the desire to keep cinemas alive. I've had the best experiences in cinema.”

She added: “I'd pretend I was going to school; I'd forge a note, and I'd go and sit in a movie theater. That's a safe haven for me, so the idea of those not existing—that's just not part of the equation in my lifetime."

The Academy Award winner said she didn't mind the parodies and mockery that came with the viral campaign, saying: "If that's what it takes, I'll do whatever it takes,. We have to have some more ideas for the next one."

A cool little detail has recently been discovered regarding one of the costumes that Oscar Isaac wore in the Marvel Studios series Moon Knight.

While I didn’t care for how the story in that series played out, I do love and appreciate the attention, care, fandom, and detail that the production and design team put into their work.

There’s no way anyone would have noticed this detail had it not been pointed out. It’s an Easter egg that has to be deciphered as it contains a multitude of references to certain dates. It only appears on screen for a second.

During an interview with CinemaBlend, Moon Knight costume designer Meghan Kasperlik explains: "On the collar, like on the reverse of the collar… Oscar's Guatemalan.”

He continued: “I took the Mayans, and I found basically the symbols – almost like Zodiac symbols – of Oscar's birthday, his brother's birthday, the first issue of Moon Knight, the first time we see Jake Lockley, the first time we see Mr. Knight, and Moon Knight in this."

Kasperlik added, "I took all of those months of those zodiac symbols, and I incorporated it into a pattern, and then 3D printed that on the back of the collar. You only see it for, literally, a second. But Oscar knew it was there."

It’s stuff like that I appreciate about these projects. Even if the movies or shows drop the ball with the story or characters, we know that the production teams and artists do this kind of stuff that some audiences may never notice and see.

While Oscar Isaac would love to see Moon Knight return for a Midnight Suns project, we have no idea what Marvel’s plans are for the character.

The gang at Hacksmith Industries went out and created a giant butane-powered lightsaber flamethrower! This sucker is 7 feet tall and it’s completely awesome overkill!

The lightsaber flamethrower runs on propane and uses a set of seven nozzles to focus its jet-like flame blade. This is exactly what Star Wars fans need to roast marshmallows!

Robosen is doing some cool things with the Transformers franchise and fans seemed to enjoy the self-transforming Optimus Prime that they previously released.

Well, now they’ve created one for Megatron, the leader of the Decepticons. The Flagship Megatron converts from a robot into a tank form and back, along with many other actions.

It is also voiced by the original voice actor Frank Welker.

The figure comes with “112 ultra-bright LED lights illuminate Megatron with stunning blue and violet accents throughout for the most realistic and authentic looking Decepticon leader on the market.”

It’s “Inspired by real life tank tracks and axle structures, Robosen's Megatron delivers exceptional climbing performance, off-road abilities, and pivot turns all while in Tank mode.”

With Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 returning to theaters, some early concept art has surfaced from the 2007 movie that features some alternate designs for Venom.

Some of these designs are very different from the comics. Some of them make the character unrecognizable.

This rarely-seen concept art comes from artists Constantine Sekeris and Ej Krisor. They were obviously created during Spider-Man 3's exploratory stage, and I doubt any of them were seriously considered.

Topher Grace ended up playing Venom in the film, and when talking about went wrong with Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 3, Raimi said: "It was really more just that I didn’t understand the character that well.”

He continued: “It wasn’t close to my heart. The best thing I like about Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s Spider-Man is that they made relatable characters that I understand. Even if they were confused, like Norman Osborn, they still have goodness in their heart. They want them to do the right thing."

He added: "When I read about Venom, which I hadn’t read as a kid. I had to catch up on it when they wanted him to be in the movie. I didn’t recognize enough humanity within that character to be able to identify with him properly. That’s really what it boils down to."

Our short film this week from the FilmQuest Film Festival and GeekTyrant team up is the medieval revenge film Villain, which comes from writer and director Sparky Tehnsuko.

We are sharing these short films with you to promote the officially selected films of FilmQuest filmmakers and their work.

Today’s short film follows an orphaned girl who seeks revenge on the enormous creature that destroyed her home, but discovers more in its lair than she bargained for.

The movie stars The Last of Us actress Bella Ramsey and Isla Gie. We hope you enjoy it!

I’ve also included a Q&A with the filmmaker behind Villain.

Without spoilers, tell us what your film is about, its characters, and its themes. Is it a proof of concept, or a standalone story? 

The film is about the cyclical nature of revenge and victimhood, portrayed through the actions of a young medieval woman seeking to kill a dragon who has destroyed her home and killed her mother. Her mission meets difficulty when she comes across a small, scaly child living within the dragon's lair. The short works as a standalone story, but is also effectively a prologue for a larger story featuring the characters that I'm currently writing.

What was the inspiration for your film? How did you come up with the idea?

It's a loose retelling of a real-life incident within my family, shrouded in fantasy metaphor because the aesthetic fit the emotions and interactions I was focusing the story toward. It's inspired by a lot of films depicting violent futility such as The Witch, You Were Never Really Here and Come And See (among others).

Tell us about yourself. What is your background? How long have you been a filmmaker?

I've been writing short stories about trauma since before I was a teenager, and found that eventually worked in my favour when I came to study film at university and was frequently tasked with writing screenplays for classmates. I graduated in 2010 and began to balance a life as an industry crew member (usually an Assistant Director or a Production IT Manager) and part-time filmmaker; I started out shooting badly-made films on DSLRs with friends, and slowly moved up to working with professional casts and crews over roughly a decade. Outside of screenplays, I still write short stories about trauma.

What inspires you to work within genre cinema and tell these kind of stories?

The general plots of most genre cinema could be told as kitchen-sink dramas with all fantastical beings or events stripped back to their real-life emotional inspirations, and the story would still fascinate but wouldn't give audiences the same escapism they may seek on the screen.

What was your favorite part of the filmmaking process for this project?

Learning how to do things I'd never attempted before. This short was my first real foray into proper casting (Bella Ramsey!), special effects (lots and LOTS of fire!), visual effects (a dragon!), stunts (jumping and falling into flames!), prosthetics (humans with scales!) and from-scratch production design (huts and caves!). I loved every second of figuring it out and collaborating with other creatives to make it all so.

What are you most proud of with this film?

There's not a lot about Villain that doesn't fill me with pride, but I'm particularly proud that my producer and I utilised the time spent at home in 2020's lockdown not to stagnate but to greatly further our filmmaking. If not for the availability, generosity and creative boredom of our industry friends during that specific period, this film wouldn't be able to exist.

What is a favorite story or moment from the making of the film you'd like to share? 

The gaffer, without warning, decided to pack up all of his lights as the entire rest of the crew set up to shoot the film's final scene, leaving the whole shoot in absolute darkness. That scene is instead lit entirely by fire from a single torch, which was conceived and created in a few minutes by our special effects team, and somehow works all the better for it.

What was your most challenging moment or experience you had while making your film?

The lights disappearing before our last scene is definitely up there! But otherwise, during editing, I realised we had shot next to nothing in terms of B-roll, which made transitions and cuts frequently more difficult than they otherwise could have been. Our Editor made some impressive choices to eloquently tell the story without missing anything from the storyboards.

If it did, how did your film change or differ from its original concept during pre-production, production, and/or post-production? How has this changed how you'll approach future projects as a result?

A huge amount changed or evolved during development – in particular, our expectations of VFX. The final film shows FAR fewer shots of the dragon than we'd anticipated, purely because of the cost, so we had to be very precise in figuring out what we could and couldn't cut to make the story continue to function. Economical editing of the script and storyboards will come a lot earlier in the process next time!

Who were some of your collaborators and actors on the film? How did you start working with each other?

My producer (Sej Davé) and I have each worked in freelance crew roles within the film industry for many years, so a great number of our collaborators were people we'd met working on huge Hollywood movies – who just so happened to be creatively bored during the pandemic and willing to work for mates' rates! My last short (They Call Me the Kid) was my first collaboration with DoP Andreas Neo, and we worked incredibly well together so I was all too glad to invite him to the project. Our composer, the extraordinarily talented Jo Quail, is actually a musician I'm just a personal fan of and reached out to over Instagram when I realised that she was based in London. I was overjoyed when she agreed to score the film! Some other mentions: Catriona Dickie, our Casting Director, had worked with Sej on a Netflix show, and she got our script to Bella Ramsey, who was eager to take on the role. The incredible Charmaine Fuller, another former colleague, arranged our makeup teams; and James Yeoman, whom we'd only recently met, ingratiated us to the world of VFX with patience and grace. To name but a few.

What is the best advice you've ever received as a filmmaker and what would you like to say to new filmmakers?

Where at all possible, don't do EVERYTHING. Focus your attentions directly towards the specific thing you'd like to do (i.e. directing, camera, production management) and you'll do that thing MUCH better than if you were spread thinly across a multitude of roles.

What are your plans for your career and what do you hope this film does for it? What kind of stories would you like to tell moving forward?

I kinda hope that this film is my last short and paves the way for investors and producers to trust that I know how to make a film. I also hope that, within a few years, I can pay my bills by writing and directing films, and no longer need to hurry any actors through makeup or fix remote server connections for the accounting department to put food on my table. I'd like to continue telling fantastical stories about damaged people coming to realisations in order to stop hurting the people they love. Like therapy, but with moving pictures!

What is your next project and when can we expect to see it? 

I'm knee-deep in writing my first feature, which I hope to be shooting in 2025 if all goes well. It's either gonna be a continuation of the story and world of Villain, or it'll be a contemporary drama about a care worker whose unidentified, catatonic patient becomes briefly world-famous when it's discovered that he's a virtuoso pianist.

This will change in five minutes, but right this second it's Children of Men.

Bonus Question #2: What is the film that most inspired you to become a filmmaker and/or had the most influence on your work?

Requiem for a Dream. It's just so many impressive technical innovations and story forms crammed into one film that screamed creative fearlessness. The subject matter, too, left me staring in wide-eyed silence at the credits, which later got me thinking "I want to be able to do that to people".

Here’s a fun art print for John Hughes’ classic 1985 comedy Weird Science. When I rewatched this movie as an adult, there was so much that I had forgotten about it!

This movie is so wild and the comedy in it is so 80s. This movie would not fly in today’s society. The film follows high school nerds Gary and Wyatt, who attempt to create the perfect woman via a homemade computer experiment.

Their creation, Lisa, is a stunning and intelligent woman with supernatural powers. Lisa helps transform the boys from social outcasts to the coolest kids in school, leading them through a series of wild and outrageous adventures.

It’s really interesting to see a different take on this story set in a different time and setting. The video was obviously made using AI, and it’s all done for the sake of fun and curiosity.

Francis Ford Coppola has released the first clip from his upcoming film Megalopolis giving us our first proper look at footage from the project.

The scene features Adam Driver walking out on the ledge of a skyscraper and after a few tense moments, stops time. This seems like he is testing this out and shocked that it actually works.

My first thought after watch this footage went straight to The Twilight Zone episode “A Kind of Stopwatch” which is about a man who acquires a stopwatch that can stop time. This is obviously inspired by that in some ways.

I’m really curious about this movie! The trailer definitely teased one aspect of the story that I wasn’t expecting from it.

The film tells the story of an architect dreaming of a utopian version of New York City in the near future and his battle with the conservative mayor, who has other ideas about the city.

Contained within the epic is a myriad of storylines and characters. “The fate of Rome haunts a modern world unable to solve its own social problems in this epic story of political ambition.”

Coppola described the film as “a love story. A woman is divided between loyalties to two men. But not only two men. Each man comes with a philosophical principle.

“One is her father who raised her, who taught her Latin on his lap and is devoted to a much more classical view of society, the Marcus Aurelius kind of view.”

“The other one, who is the lover, is the enemy of the father but is dedicated to a much more progressive ‘Let’s leap into the future, let’s leap over all of this garbage that has contaminated humanity for 10,000 years. Let’s find what we really are, which are an enlightened, friendly, joyous species.’”

Coppola also talked about the film and his goal with it, saying: “My first goal always is to make a film with all my heart, so I began to realize it would be about love and loyalty in every aspect of human life.”

He explained: “Megalopolis echoed these sentiments, in which love was expressed in almost crystalline complexity, our planet in danger and our human family almost in an act of suicide, until becoming a very optimistic film that has faith in the human being to possess the genius to heal any problem put before us.”

The filmmaker added: “I believe in America. Our founders borrowed a constitution, Roman law, and senate for their revolutionary government without a king. American history could neither have taken place nor succeeded without classical learning to guide it.”

Coppola also previously said of the film: “So somewhere down the line, way after I'm gone, all I want is for them to discuss [Megalopolis] and, is the society we're living in the only one available to us? How can we make it better? Education, mental health?

“What the movie really is proposing is that utopia is not a place. It's how can we make everything better? Every year, come up with two, three or four ideas that make it better."

He went on to say: "I would be smiling in my grave if I thought something like that happened, because people talk about what movies really mean if you give them something.

“If you encouraged people to discuss marriage and education and health and justice and opportunities and freedom and all these wonderful things that human beings have conceived of. And ask the question, how can we make it even better? That would be great. Because I bet you they would make it better if they had that conversation."

The cast for the film also includes Shia LaBeouf, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman, Laurence Fishburne, Grace VanderWaal, Kathryn Hunter, James Remar, Talia Shire. Dustin Hoffman, Chloe Fineman (Saturday Night Live), Isabelle Kusman (Licorice Pizza), D.B. Sweeney (Fire in the Sky), Bailey Ives, and Giancarlo Esposito.

Driver previously talked about the film, saying: “The movie is wild. It’s so imaginative and big and epic, and it’s bold. It takes a risk, and I couldn’t be more excited by it.”

After the film was initially screened, it was met with mixed reactions. One person said the movie is "unflinching in how batshit it is" and said it has "zero commercial prospects."

Lucasfilm has unleashed a new trailer for The Acolyte in celebration of Star Wars Day. The trailer offers fans some new footage, which includes the reveal of a mysterious and sinister-looking new Sith villain.

I really hope that this series ends up being good and surpassing fan expectations. We’ll just have to wait and see when the series drops.

The story is described as “a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.” The High Republic is set 100 years before the Skywalker Saga begins.

Amandla Steinberg plays a former Padawan and dangerous warrior who is hunting down and killing Jedi.

In The Acolyte, “An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems…."

Showrunner Leslye Headland promises that The Acolyte will be "packed" with nods to pretty much every era in Star Wars.

The series also stars Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae stars as Jedi Master Sol, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Margarita Levieva, Joonas Suotamo, and Amy Tsang.

The Acolyte will have eight episodes in total, with Headland, Garcia Lopez, and Kogonada directing episodes of the series. It’s set to premiere on June 4, 2024, on Disney+.

This month marks the 40th anniversary of The NeverEnding Story, a timeless fantasy adventure that has captivated audiences since its debut in 1984.

In celebration, I thought I’d share a couple of old trailers for the movie, which was one of my all-time favorites when I was a kid. Damn… I love this movie!

The NeverEnding Story is a captivating movie that follows the journey of a shy and bullied young boy named Bastian. While seeking refuge in a bookstore to escape his bullies, Bastian stumbles upon a mysterious book titled The NeverEnding Story.

As he begins to read the book in the storage attic of his school, he finds himself drawn into the magical world of Fantasia, which is on the brink of destruction by a malevolent force known as The Nothing.

The inhabitants of Fantasia desperately need a hero to save their world, and as Bastian reads on, he becomes increasingly intertwined with the story's fate.

Led by Atreyu, a brave young warrior, the quest to save Fantasia unfolds, challenging both Atreyu and Bastian to overcome fears and discover their true strengths.

After all these years, The NeverEnding Story remains a beloved classic and continues to inspire imagination. We actually dedicated two podcast episodes to this film that you can listen to here.

The film is currently being adapted as a new live-action series.

Home Depot has revealed an epic new Star Wars Halloween decoration for Star Wars Day, May the 4th. That decoration is a life-size 7-foot tall animated, LED Darth Vader!

The decoration comes complete with interchangeable accessories for Halloween, Christmas, and just everyday displays for the rest of the year!

It comes with a red lightsaber, Death Star jack-O-lantern, candy cane light saber and a Death Star ornament. 

Darth Vader should be released sometime today and it’s priced at $299, which is actually a pretty great deal! I mean, Sideshow's life-size Darth Vader figure costs almost $9000 and it doesn't even come with a Death Star jack-O-lantern or candy cane lightsaber!

Some older photos from the set of Captain America: Civil War have resurfaced online and are making the rounds. They feature Tom Holland wearing the original practical Spider-Man suit, and they have fans talking.

Some fans think that this original practical suit was a better design than the CG version that ended up being used in the film.

There are some significant differences between the practical suit and the CGI suit. For example, the web lines on Spidey's suit are much darker and far more pronounced. The chest logo is also completely different.

Regardless of the suit design, looking back on that moment… it’s pretty incredible that we finally got to see Spider-Man fight alongside The Avengers! No one thought that would ever happen, and it did!

Spider-Man was added to the film in the late stages of production so when Marvel got the green light to put Spider-Man in the movie the suit they threw him in was obviously something temporary until they finalized the design.

Prime Video has released a new full trailer and three posters for The Boys Season 4! The trailer offers details on the story and some bonkers footage of all kinds of bloody and violent mayhem! This next season is going to take fans an one hell of a crazy-ass ride!

In season four, “The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power.”

“Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son as well as his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”

Eric Kripke previously teased that this season, “miiiiiiight be the batshit craziest thing we've ever done? Like I truly can't believe we got away with it.”

Disney has revealed the Darth Maul Legacy Lightsaber hilt replica, which drops on Star Wars Day, May the 4th.

The Sith Apprentice: Darth Maul Legacy Lightsaber Set headlines their Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 25th Anniversary Collection, which will also include some apparel. 

You can actually see a promo teaser dramatically revealing the Darth Maul hilt, which you can watch on Disney's Secret Order 54 page.

The replica comes with a certificate of authenticity and it will be a limited edition of 7000 units, and there’s no doubt that it’s going to sell out quick.

If you want one, it drops on Star Wars Day 2024 drops starting at 8am PT / 11am ET here at the Disney Store. The hilt will be priced at $400.

The director of the live-action Legend of Zelda movie, Wes Ball, is taking on a huge challenge to tell an epic fantasy story about the believed Nintendo character Link. But, he is committed to delivering an incredible movie.

During a recent interview with The Direct, Ball opened up about how important this film is to him saying: "We're working on it. I think it's gonna be great. Fans are gonna be happy. Legend of Zelda, to me, is one of the most important things ever in my life. You know, next to Star Wars."

He added: “I've played Legend of Zelda throughout my childhood into my adulthood. You know what I mean? I am a fan. I am a fellow fan. I will go to the ends of the earth to make sure that it is the movie we all hope it will be."

I’m really rooting for Ball because I would love nothing more than to see him make an incredible Legend of Zelda movie.

During a previous interview, the director shared that he’s looking for the movie to be both serious and whimsical: "I have this awesome idea. I’ve been thinking about it for a long freakin’ time, of how cool a Zelda movie would be... I want to fulfill people’s greatest desires.”

He continued: “I know it’s important, this [Zelda] franchise, to people and I want it to be a serious movie. A real movie that can give people an escape. That’s the thing I want to try to create – it’s got to feel like something real. Something serious and cool, but fun and whimsical."

Ball also previously explain that the movie will be more inspired by the work of Hayao Miyazaki and less like The Lord of the Rings.

Ball said: “This awesome fantasy-adventure movie that isn’t like Lord of the Rings, it’s its own thing. I've always said, I would love to see a live-action Miyazaki. That wonder and whimsy that he brings to things, I would love to see something like that."

He went on to explain: "It’s going to be awesome. My whole life has led up to this moment. I grew up on Zelda and it is the most important property, I think, that’s untapped IP, if you will.

“So we very much are working hard to do something. We’re not just trying to do it because we can. We want to make something really special."

Nintendo and Sony Pictures are co-producing the movie, with Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) writing the screenplay.

The Legend of Zelda follows the adventures of a young hero named Link, who is often tasked with rescuing Princess Zelda and battling the malevolent villain Ganon.

Fans love the game for its engaging, open-world exploration, intricate puzzles, and rich storytelling.

Hulu has released the first trailer for a high school coming of age comedy titled Prom Dates, and it looks like it will deliver lots of funny, crude humor.

Prom Dates “follows best friends Jess and Hannah, who made a pact at 13 to have the perfect senior prom. Despite the impending changes that college will bring over the next four years, the two are committed to honoring their prom pact.

“But with only 24 hours left before the big event, everything falls apart when they break up with each of their dates. Jess and Hannah are left with one night to find new dates and live out their middle-school fantasies.”

The movie comes from director Kim Nguyen, and it stars Julia Lester as Hannah and Antonia Gentry as Jess, JT Neal, Jordan Buhat, Zión Moreno, Terry Hu, with John Michael Higgins and Chelsea Handler.

The movie looks like a fun time, and it will be released on Hulu on May 3rd, 2024.

Oscar-nominated actress Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Saltburn) has come aboard for a role in the highly-anticipated upcoming installment of Lionsgate’s magic-themed franchise Now You See Me 3.

While specifics as to her role are under wraps, it’s described as “pivotal.” As previously announced, the threequel will see Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman reprise their roles from the previous films.

Others who have come aboard in new roles include Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt.

While the plot for Now You See Me 3 is unclear at this point, we hear it will reintroduce audiences to the thieving illusionists known as the Four Horseman while introducing audiences to a new generation of magicians.

Smallville and Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have signed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures to develop film projects through their Millar Gough Ink banner.

The two creatives, who recently wrote Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, have hired Aaron Schmidt has been hired as Head of Film at Millar Gough Ink, and he will spearhead development and production.

Schmidt previously oversaw development for Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg’s KatzSmith Productions, based at Warner Bros. He was also a producer on the Child’s Play reboot with Aubrey Plaza and Kung Fury with Michael Fassbender and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Gough shared in a statement: “The challenge that we all face today is what makes a movie theatrical?  Miles and I are excited to work with both new and established writers and filmmakers to create cinematic stories that audiences want to experience on the big screen.”

Millar added: “Al and I always gravitate to stories with spectacle and soul. While our focus is to write and produce big tent poles we are also fired up to create a diverse slate of kick ass movies including edgier genre pictures.”

Schmidt said: “Partnering with Sony Pictures and two formidable creators like Al and Miles, who know how to make you laugh, cry and scream, is a dream come true. Movies have always been a team sport and I look forward to collaborating with Tom, Sanford, Josh and their incredible divisions at the studio.”

Gough also said: “Aaron shares our passion for hands-on movie making and together we are excited to create projects that get people back into theaters.” 

Gough and Miller are a couple of really talented writers and filmmakers and I’m excited to see what kind of film projects that they develop while they’re over at Sony Pictures. I hope they develop some really cool original films.

The first reactions have surfaced for director Wes Ball’s upcoming film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Several critics have already had the opportunity to see the movie, and it looks like they are loving it it delivers!

The movie is described as being “magnificent”, “breathtaking”, and “beautifully crafted”. However, some are also saying that the pacing is a bit off.

I’ve been really excited about this movie and it’s nice to see that people are enjoying it! It looks like this movie is going to give us a great and exciting adventure story!

The movie is set “several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows.

“As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.”

The cast includes Owen Teague (It), Freya Allen (The Witcher), and Peter Macon (The Orville). The script for the film comes from Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Patrick Aison (Prey).

It also co-stars Travis Jeffery (Unbroken), Neil Sandilands (Sweet Tooth), Sara Wiseman (One Of Us Is Lying), Ras-Samuel Welda’abzgi (The Clearing), Lydia Peckham (Cowboy Bebop), and Kevin Durand.

Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Nick Jonas (Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle) are set to star in a musical comedy film titled Power Ballad. The film comes from Once and Sing Street director John Carney.

The film will chart the story of “a wedding singer (Rudd), a rock star (Jonas), and the song that comes between them.”

Carney, who is currently shooting the film in Dublin, said in a statement: “I’m delighted to be working with so many great people. I’ve been working on this script with my buddy Peter for years, and now Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas are in my kitchen.”

Alex Walton of WME added: “We are so excited to bring John Carney’s next film to Cannes. John has a magic ability to weave great music into wonderfully engaging and universally relatable stories that make audience emotions run high.”

He added: “Power Ballad is fun and heartwarming – themes that audiences crave today.  His unique vision, coupled with the global appeal of Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, will give buyers exactly what they’re looking for.”

I enjoy the films that Carney makes and I’m looking forward to seeing how this next one turns out.

Amazon Prime Video has ordered a series adaptation of the Michelle Frances novel The Girlfriend with Robin Wright (The Princess Bride, House of Cards) set to star and direct. It has been announced that Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One, House of the Dragon), Laurie Davidson (Mary and George), and Waleed Zuaiter (Gangs of London) will also star in the series alongside Wright.

The official description of the series states: “Laura (Wright) wants for nothing. She has a glittering career, a loving husband, Howard (Zuaiter), and, above all, she has Daniel (Davidson), her precious only son. But Laura’s seemingly perfect life is blown apart when Daniel brings home Cherry (Cooke), the girlfriend who changes everything. After an uncomfortable first meeting, Laura grows convinced that Cherry isn’t who she says she is. While no one else can see what she sees, Laura refuses to stand by and watch Daniel be deceived. She’ll do anything to protect him. As things go from bad to deadly, the question is, is Cherry a manipulative social climber? Or is Laura paranoid and possessive? The truth is a matter of perspective.”

Gabbie Asher and Naomi Sheldon serve as writers on the series, with episodes also written by Marek Horn, Ava Wong Davies, Isis Davis, and Helen Kingston. Asher is also an executive producer. Wright serves as an executive producer in addition to starring and directing.

Wright said of the project:

“I’m thrilled to be directing and acting in this wildly delicious psychological thriller filled with plot twists and surprising character turns, and to be working with such talented actors, Olivia and Laurie, and an overall amazing cast & crew…so excited!”

Roadside Attractions has released the trailer for an upcoming film titled Lee, which is a biopic about the famed war photographer Lee Miller.

Miller was a fashion model who became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue magazine during WWII. The film is described as a “fascinating portrait of the great American war correspondent Lee Miller, whose singular talent & ferocious tenacity gave us some of the 20th century's most indelible images…

“The story begins in the South of France, 1938, where Lee Miller is vacationing with her dearest and closest friends who are artists, poets, and confidants."

The film “portrays a pivotal decade in the life of American war correspondent and photographer, Lee Miller. Miller's singular talent and unbridled tenacity resulted in some of the 20th century's most indelible images of war, including an iconic photo of Miller herself, posing defiantly in Hitler's private bathtub.

“Lee Miller had a profound understanding and empathy for women and for the voiceless victims of war. Her images display both the fragility and ferocity of the human experience. Above all, the film shows how Miller lived her life at full-throttle in pursuit of truth, for which she paid a huge personal price, forcing her to confront a traumatic & deeply buried secret from her childhood.”

It’s explained that "Lee lived her life at full throttle, for which she paid a huge emotional price." It certainly looks like a well-made and incredible intense movie.

The film comes from director Ellen Kuras, who previously worked as a cinematographer and it also stars Alexander Skarsgård, Andrea Riseborough, Marion Cotillard, Josh O'Connor, Noémie Merlant, Samuel Barnett, and Andy Samberg as her photographer friend David E. Scherman who joined her on the front.

The film was adapted from the biography The Lives of Lee Miller by Antony Penrose. Roadside will release the movie in select US theaters on September 20th, 2024.

Stephen King is a huge fan of Netflix’s Baby Reindeer series. After watching the series, the iconic author posted on X, “BABY REINDEER: Holy shit.”

After that the author expanded on his praise for the show, writing an essay on it that was shared on the UK-based publication The Times. 

King calls the darkly funny drama "one of the best things" he's ever seen. He also compared it to his novel Misery, joking: "My first thought was to thank God my novel came first, or people would assume I’d stolen it from Richard Gadd."

King went on to say: "Unlike most streaming series' episodes, which can feel bloated at 50 minutes – or even longer – the episodes of Baby Reindeer, each about 30 minutes, are like short, swift stabs administered by a very sharp knife.”

He continued: "The great gift (I will not call it a trick) of Baby Reindeer is that we come to understand why it has taken so long for Donny to report his abuse. In his heart, Donny believes he deserves it. We feel empathy for him rather than impatience, and we come to feel empathy for Martha as well."

The series is based on a true story and follows the writer and performer Richard Gadd's warped relationship with his female stalker and the impact it has on him as he is ultimately forced to face a deep, dark buried trauma.

The story centers on “struggling comedian Donny Dunn’s (Gadd) strange and layered relationship with a woman named Martha (Jessica Gunning), whose initially friendly demeanor unravels as she begins to stalk Donny relentlessly. 

“Their first interaction is innocent enough: While working his shift as a bartender, Donny shows an act of kindness to Martha, a customer whose vulnerability is readily apparent.

“But, as the saying goes, ‘no good deed goes unpunished,’ and this casual encounter sparks a suffocating obsession that threatens to wreck both their lives and forces Donny to face his deeply buried trauma.”

The way the story plays out is intense, thrilling, fun, and heartbreaking. It’s a beautifully made yet tragic story. If you haven’t watched Baby Reindeer yet, it’s worth the watch!

Marvel Studios has shared a new photo for their upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World, and it offers our best look yet at Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) wearing his Captain America costume.

The photo was shared on Empire, and they also talked with director Julius Onah about the movie, who shared some additional insight into the character and what he’s going through in this story.

Onah explained that it’ll be the biggest test of Sam Wilson’s life: “It’s really his coming-out show. It’s about putting him through the paces.”

The director went on to talk about Wilson’s relationship with the American government, saying: “Part of the challenge for Sam as Captain America, working within the government, is the way he’s going to make decisions. The point of view he’s going to have will at times put him at odds with the President.”

He goes on to talk about Wilson being at odds with Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader: “Sam finds himself almost standing between Samuel Sterns and what he thinks the government owes him, and how he wants to go about getting that.”

The filmmaker also addresses the fact that Sam Wilson has no super powers and how they had some fun with that: “The action in this movie is incredibly exciting because this is a guy who can break, this is a guy who can bleed. We get to have a lot of fun pushing him to the limit.”

I’ve actually already seen some footage from Captain America: Brave New World, and it looked a lot better than I was expecting. That footage showed President Ross tasking Sam Wilson with rebuilding the Avengers.

This exchange came with a little tension over who would be calling the shots for the team… Sam Wilson or President Ross? Then all hell breaks loose when there’s an assassination attempt on Ross’s life.

Kevin Feige previously talked about the dynamic between the characters Wilson and Ross, saying: “There's a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible.”

Feige also said that he is looking to capture the same magic that we saw in Captain America: The Winter Solider by leaning into the whole political thriller aspect of the story.

The movie also stars Liv Tyler, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rosa Salazar, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly.

The script for the film was penned by Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman, both of whom wrote for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Spellman will produce with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

Captain America: Brave New World arrives on February 14, 2025.

Hugh Jackman (Deadpool & Wolverine) and Jodie Comer (Fall Guy) are set to star in a new movie about Robin Hood titled The Death Of Robin Hood.

The film will be written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One), and it will give us a darker reimagining of the classic Robin Hood story.

The film will “see the title character grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, a battleworn loner who finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation.”

This is definitely a different take on the legendary character who stole from the rich to give to the poor.

Producer Alexander Black said in a statement: “We are thrilled to be part of this very special project and to be working with a visionary director in Michael, a phenomenal cast in Hugh and Jodie, and producing with our frequent collaborators, Ryder and Swett at RPC.”

Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett of RPC added: “This is not the story of Robin Hood we’ve all come to know. Instead, Michael has crafted something far more grounded and visceral.”

He continued: “Thanks to Alexander Black and our friends at Lyrical along with Rama and Michael, the world is going to love seeing Hugh and Jodie together in this epic.”

The director of the film said: “It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood.”

He added: “Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not be more thrilled and trusting in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.”

Production is due to begin in February 2025.

Deadpool & Wolverine can’t get here soon enough! This is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and fans are incredibly curious to see how this wild multiverse adventure turns out.

It’s pretty crazy that it actually took this long to make a movie where Deadpool and Wolverine team up in a movie for some kind of bonkers mission. No, X-Men Origins: Wolverine does not count.

Hugh Jackman was so excited about the prospect that even though he “retired” from playing Wolverine, he had to come back for this one. Seriously, though… how do you say no to this!?

The version of Wolverine that we see in this movie is going to be different from the version previously played by Jackman. During a recent interview with Empire, Jackman teased there we will see different side of the character that we’ve never seen before.

The when talking about finally wearing the costume, the actor said: “We almost did it in The Wolverine. But from the moment I put it on here, I was like, ‘How did we never do this?’”

He added: “It looked so right, it felt so right. I was like, ‘That’s him.’ There are different sides of Wolverine we haven’t seen before in the movies.”

He shared his excitement about this saying: “It was exciting for me. It’s great for Deadpool to have someone who will punch him in the face.”

In this new story, Deadpool is recruited by the TVA to save the Sacred Timeline and he recruits Wolverine to help him with the job. This is a journey that Wolverine initially doesn’t want any part of. But after a big mutant brawl, he signs up.

In the film, “After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis. Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman.

“But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival but ultimately, their legacy."

It’s also explained: "That f–king irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?"

Shawn Levy is directing the movie and the confirmed cast for the movie includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen as a TVA Agent, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.

They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna, who will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26th!

Man of Steel and Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder has opened up about his original plans for Superman in the DCEU. He explains how he was going to bring the Man of Steel'‘s story arc to an end in his scrapped sequels.

GQ recently talked with the director to discuss his filmmaking career and during the conversation, Snyder elaborated on his decision to end his Justice League cut with a glimpse into the future which revealed that Superman eventually falls under Darkseid's control. 

It even went back to DCEU's "Knightmare" timeline, with Batman leading a team of heroes and villains plotting to take down Superman.

When talking about Superman’s redemption arc, Snyder said: "He was going to have to succumb to the Anti-life, be destroyed, turn the clock back, and then get his chance for this battle against Darkseid.”

"If you will...” he continued, “that would have finished his trilogy of becoming this guardian, and sort of, return him to his humanity."

It would’ve been really interesting to see Snyder get to tell his full Superman story, but as you know, through a series of frustrating events, that all fell apart, and it’s something we’ll never get to see.

James Gunn and Peter Safran are now leading the charge at DC Studios, and they are rebooting the whole DC Cinematic Universe. While I am curious about what Snyder’s full plans were, I’m excited to see what Gunn is cooking for his vision!

Sony Pictures is partnering up with the private equity firm Apollo Global Management in an attempt to buy Paramount Pictures. They sent a letter to the studio expressing interest in acquiring the company for about $26 billion.

This comes as David Ellison’s Skydance Media, backed by private equity firms RedBird Capital and KKR, awaits word from Paramount’s special committee on whether they will accept its bid to acquire the company to controlling shareholder Shari Redstone.

As of right now, that is up in the air. If for some reason that deal does not move forward, Redstone could turn her attention to negotiating a deal with Sony and Apollo, which would give all common shareholders a premium payout on their shares.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that Paramount Global shares jumped more than 12% on the news that Sony and Apollo submitted a letter formalizing its interest.

Redstone had already rejected an offer by Apollo in favor of working with Skydance as that deal would keep Paramount together. It;’s explained that a private equity firm would “likely tear the company apart through a series of divestitures to extract value.”

But, a $26 billion offer for Paramount Global is a higher value than the company’s current $22 billion value. It’s also more than what Skydance is offering.

Skydance’s “best and final” offer included “merging its entertainment assets with Paramount, raising $3 billion to buy out common shareholders at about a 30% premium on an unaffected $11 per share price, and paying Redstone nearly $2 billion for her controlling stake.”

The report explains that “the special committee would likely want to review details on financing and get assurances that there are no regulatory challenges in merging with Sony, a non-U.S. entity. To do this, the special committee would have to inform the Skydance consortium that it wants to end its exclusive talks, which would likely drive Skydance away as a bidder.”

It’ll be interesting to see how all of this plays out. It would be pretty wild if Sony Pictures actually ended up buying Paramount Pictures.

It seems like Redstone would rather work with Skydance, but then they also have to think about what’s best for the shareholders, and that would be the Sony and Apollo deal.

Filmmaker Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions is heading into documentary territory, and is using his movie Nope as inspiration. The Get Out filmmaker is producing a documentary series that dismantles the whitewashed mythology of the cowboy for Peacock.

Produced through his Monkeypaw Productions label, Peele is producing the untitled series with Universal Television Alternative Studio as part of his overall deal with Universal Studio Group.

The series is inspired by themes from his movie Nope, which starred Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer as horse-wrangling siblings attempting to capture evidence of a UFO in Agua Dulce, California.

The docuseries will rewrite a foundational piece of American history, unmasking the forces that erased the identity of the Black cowboy from frontier history and present.

Keith McQuirter, who directed MGM+’s By Whatever Means Necessary: The Godfather of Harlem, will serve as showrunner, director and exec producer.

Pearlena Igbokwe, Chairman, Universal Studio Group, said of the project:

“Nope gave a nod to the deep history of Black cowboys in America, and this docuseries offers a full exploration of their lives and contributions to today’s cultural landscape. 

“Told through the singular lens of Jordan Peele, this series is every bit as entertaining as it is enriching. It’s been a thrill for UTAS to collaborate with Jordan, Monkeypaw, Keith and the team on what is a truly special project, and we’re excited to share it with fans.”

It was a big surprise for Marvel fans to learn that Hugh Jackman was coming back to play Wolverine again after his incredible film Logan.

Jackman said that he was going to retire from playing Wolverine after that movie, but that retirement didn’t last very long, because Marvel Studios and Ryan Reynolds asked him to come back for Deadpool & Wolverine, and of course, he took the gig!

Well, it turns out that at one point after Logan was released, Kevin Feige told Jackman not to return for the role. Feige was actually most nervous about Jackman’s return to the role.

Feige explained in an interview with Empire: “I said, ‘Let me give you a piece of advice, Hugh. Don’t come back. You had the greatest ending in history with Logan. That’s not something we should undo.’”

Don’t worry, though! They aren’t undoing anything that happened in Logan, this is another version of the character. This is something that Feige has already confirmed.

After Jackman was approached about playing Wolverine again for the new Deadpool movie, he decided that another take on the character was exactly what he was excited about.

Jackman said: “I was about an hour into the drive. And that question came into my head: ‘What do I want to do?’ And as soon as I asked the question, I wanted to do Deadpool & Wolverine. I just knew it. I drove for another hour. Couldn’t stop thinking about it. And I got out of the car, called Ryan, and said, ‘Ryan, if you’ll have me, I’m in.’”

It’s going to be a lot of fun to see Wolverine back in action, but to see him team up with Deadpool on some kind of insane multiverse adventure is going to be a huge hit with fans! The movie is going to blow up the box office!

Kristen Stewart (Twilight, Spencer, Love Lies Bleeding) is returning to the vampire genre alongside Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, Moon Knight, Scenes From a Marriage) in Flesh of the Gods, the next wild-sounding project from Panos Cosmatos, best known for his blood-soaked Nicolas Cage trippy action-horror movie, Mandy.

The film was written by Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en, The Killer) from a story he devised with Cosmatos, and produced by Adam McKay and Betsy Koch of Hyperobject Industries. Isaac and Gena Konstantinakos also produce for Mad Gene Media, the production company Isaac set up with his wife Elvira Lind.

Flesh of the Gods is set in “glittering ’80s L.A.,” where married couple Raoul (Isaac) and Alex (Stewart) each evening descend from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into the city’s electric nighttime realm. When they cross paths with a mysterious and enigmatic figure known as Nameless and her hard-partying cabal, the pair are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills and violence.

“Like Los Angeles itself, Flesh of the Gods inhabits the liminal realm between fantasy and nightmare,” Cosmatos said. “Both propulsive and hypnotic, ‘Flesh’ will take you on a hot rod joy ride deep into the glittering heart of hell.”

Added McKay: “This director, this writer, these incredible actors, vampires, choice ’80s punk, style and attitude for miles… that’s the film we’re bringing you today. We think it’s wildly commercial and wildly artful. Our ambitions are to make a movie that ripples through popular culture, fashion, music and film. Can you tell how excited I am?”

Flesh of the Gods is set to start production later this year.

Director Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, Midnight Mass) is in talks to direct the next Exorcist film for Blumhouse and Universal Pictures.

The first film, The Exorcist: Believer, was the first film in a planned trilogy, but the movie, which was helmed by David Gordon Green, was a complete mess. The film didn’t do as well at the box office as the studio hoped.

Universal and Blumhouse bet big on the horror franchise and bought rights to The Exorcist from Morgan Creek back for $400 million and they want to make sure that investment pays off.

Bringing on a filmmaker like Flanagan ensures that the next film will be a top-quality production. Flanagan is a strong filmmaker and a great storyteller, and if anyone can do something great with this franchise, it’s him.

It was previously reported that the studio is committed to finishing the new trilogy, but because of how The Exorcist: Believer turned out and how it was received, they will “almost certainly demand some degree of creative re-think for the next two films.”

Flanagan is the guy they want to get the franchise back on course.

In the movie, “Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding has raised their daughter, Angela on his own.

“But when Angela and her friend Katherine, disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.”

Here’s a trailer for a new found footage horror thriller titled Mind Body Spirit, which centers on a yoga influencer who ends up in a dark and sinister situation when she discovers an ancient ritual practice in her house.

In Mind Body Spirit, “Anya, an aspiring yoga influencer, embarks on a ritual practice left behind by her estranged grandmother. She documents the practice on her YouTube channel for the world to watch, allowing her audience intimate access to her journey.

“But what starts as a spiritual self-help guide evolves into something much more sinister. As Anya becomes obsessed with the mysterious power of the practice, she unwittingly unleashes an otherworldly entity that begins to take control of her life – and her videos.

“Now Anya must race to unlock the truth, before her descent into madness threatens to consume her mind, body and spirit. By the time she reveals the true nature of the ritual, will it be too late?”

Mind Body Spirit was written and directed by Alex Henes and Matthew Merenda. It actually looks like a fun little twisted and spooky horror flick!

It stars Sarah J. Bartholomew, Madi Bready, KJ Flahive, Anna Knigge, and Kristi Noory, and was produced by Dan Asma and Jesse McClung.

Mind Body Spirit will be released on Digital on May 7.

Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid is the next classic fairytale to get the twisted horror movie treatment and the trailer has been released.

This new version of The Little Mermaid comes from Grindstone Entertainment Group, and the film is rated “R” for “Language, some violence and brief nudity.”

As you’ll see, this is unlike any version of The Little Mermaid you’ve seen before, and it doesn’t look good.

In the film, “Dr. Eric Prince, an archaeologist, makes a dramatic discovery on a small Caribbean island—proof of an ancient, advanced prehistoric society.

“While his dig is in progress, he meets the mysterious and beautiful Aurora Bey and falls in love. Her arrival coincides with several mermaid sightings and strange disappearances."

“When Eric’s friend and mentor, Dr. Ashley, arrives on the island, Ashley uncovers the true identity of Aurora and the dangers of the hidden evil inside Eric’s dig site.

“Will Eric heed his friend’s advice, or will he be blinded by love and the power of the siren, allowing the world to fall to the forces of evil?”

The movie comes from director Leigh Scott, and it stars Lydia Helen, Mike Markoff, and Jeff Denton.

XYZ Films has released a trailer for its upcoming cheerleading film Backspot, which is a serious sports drama that tells a coming of age story.

In the film: “An ambitious cheerleader, Riley (Devery Jacobs), faces new adversity, her increased drive for perfection and triumph, and a demanding head coach (Evan Rachel Wood) when she and her girlfriend are selected for an all-star cheer squad - called the Thunderhawks.

“With a competition looming, Riley must navigate her drive alongside her crippling anxiety, as one wrong move could bring her crashing to the ground…”

With my daughter being a high school cheerleader, I am currently living the cheerleading life. I know all of the drama and the struggles that these girls go through.

While cheerleading can be hardcore, it is nothing like this trailer portrays it. I showed the trailer to my daughter and she just laughed at it. The movie is so serious, that it’s funny. But, the movie is getting good reviews, so we’ll see!

The movie comes from director D.W. Waterson, making their directorial debut, and it also stars Shannyn Sossamon, Kudakwashe Rutendo, Thomas Antony Olajide, and Wendy Crewson. The movie is also executive produced by Elliott Page.

XYZ Films will release Backspot in theaters on May 31st, 2024.

Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor Paul Walter Hauser (Cobra Kai, Richard Jewell, Black Bird) has had quite a few weeks!

His career is barreling forward with incredible force, as he first signed on to play actor and comedian Chris Farley in the Josh Gad-directed biopic about Farley’s life.

Then it was announced that he is taking on the role of Captain Ed in the untitled Naked Gun reboot from Paramount Pictures. Now it has been revealed that Hauser has joined the ensemble cast of Marvel’s highly anticipated The Fantastic Four.

Hauser’s role in the superhero flick is under wraps, as is its plot. As previously reported, the film’s core cast includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic); Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman); Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch); and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka the Thing). Most recently, Julia Garner came aboard to play Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer.

Matt Shakman (WandaVision) is directing from a script by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Peter Cameron (WandaVision) has also done some writing on the project. Production will begin this summer, with the film slated to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.

Who do you think Hauser is going to play in the film?

While we wait for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes to be released on the big screen, the director of the film, Wes Ball, is already revealing his plans for the home entertainment release.

In an interview with Ape Nation, the Ball revealed that the film's Blu-ray will feature a copy of the entire movie without any of the CGI. This will give fans the ability to see the actors' performances in the mo-cap suits pre-VFX.

The filmmaker revealed: "I'm doing a little thing for the DVD where you can watch the movie – the entire movie – with the raw dailies.”

He said: "I'm working on that, where you'll be able to watch and see both the final [cut] and the raw dailies. You can see how close they get, what they do, and how they stitch everything together. It's amazing, and you can just sit there and enjoy it.”

Ball added: "I'll do some commentary over it with Erik [Winquist], our VFX [supervisor]. I think it's gonna be great. For geeks like us, it's gonna be a first. They've never seen this kind of thing."

Ball continued: "Some of the hardest stuff in VFX is how you get CG characters to interact with others. So we have a human girl hugging a CG ape and it's like, 'How do you do that?'" 

I love that the director is doing this! I’ve always thought it would be cool to watch a full movie like this with all of the VFX work stripped away so that we can watch the actors doing their thing and Ball is doing it! That’s so cool!

The movie is set “several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows.

“As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.”

The cast includes Owen Teague (It), Freya Allen (The Witcher), and Peter Macon (The Orville). The script for the film comes from Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Patrick Aison (Prey).

It also co-stars Travis Jeffery (Unbroken), Neil Sandilands (Sweet Tooth), Sara Wiseman (One Of Us Is Lying), Ras-Samuel Welda’abzgi (The Clearing), Lydia Peckham (Cowboy Bebop), and Kevin Durand.

Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor Paul Walter Hauser (Cobra Kai, Richard Jewell, Black Bird) has joined the cast of Paramount’s rebooted comedy feature, The Naked Gun. He joins Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, as previously announced. Akiva Schaffer is directing and exec producing the comedy, slated for release in theaters on July 18, 2025. Known for their absurd scenarios and slapstick humor, past Naked Gun films centered on the misadventures of Frank Drebin, the clueless and bumbling police detective played by Leslie Nielsen, who also starred in Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker’s Police Squad!.

Coming off of Emmy, Critics Choice and Golden Globe wins for his haunting turn as serial killer Larry Hall in Apple’s crime drama Black Bird, Hauser was also recently seen in the second season of Apple’s hit comedy The Afterparty from Lord & Miller. On June 14, he’ll be heard voicing the character of Embarrassment in the long-awaited Inside Out 2. Other upcoming projects include Tony Tost’s directorial debut Americana with Sydney Sweeney, which was recently acquired by Lionsgate, and Doug Liman’s Apple Original The Instigators, which has him starring opposite Matt Damon. Hauser also recently signed on to play Chris Farley in a biopic that will be directed by Josh Gad.

The first season of Apple TV+’s sci-fi mystery series Silo was a spectacular series. The creative team behind the development of that show did such an awesome job bringing that story to life, and it sounds like Season 2 is going to be even better!

Rebecca Ferguson recently revealed that Silo Season 2 had completed filming, and the author of the Silo novel series, which is titled the "Wool" series, Hugh Howey, has seen it, and he shared his thoughts on it, which are sure to get fans excited.

He said on social media: "I've seen season two and it's one of the best things I've ever seen." That’s some epic hype right there and I couldn’t be more excited to watch it!

The series is based on Howey’s trilogy of dystopian novels, and it tells the story of the “last ten thousand people on earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and any who try to find out face fatal consequences.”

After its sheriff breaks a cardinal rule and residents die mysteriously, engineer Juliette, who is played by Rebecca Ferguson, “seeks answers about a loved one's murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don't kill you, the truth will. She starts to uncover shocking secrets and the truth about the silo.”

Ferguson talked about the future of the series, saying: "I believe that the show has an ending, and I know when that is. So, that's the answer. You will find out when the show is done.”

She added: “To be honest, I don't think it's a secret. The books are the books. It's three books, and the three books are divided into four seasons. So, I believe, unless any Apple person is gonna jump on, I think we're absolutely fine with saying Season 1, we've done. Season 2 is shot and coming out, and we're now looking at green-lighting Seasons 3 and 4. And I think we would film them maybe together, and that would be the end."

When previously talking about Season 2, Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+ said in a statement: “It has been enormously fulfilling to see the engrossing, atmospheric and beautifully crafted sci-fi epic Silo quickly become Apple’s number one drama series.”

He added: “As audiences around the world have become gripped by the mysteries and conspiracies buried within this fascinating subterranean world, viewership only continues to climb, and we are so excited for more secrets of the silo to be revealed in season two.” 

The series was created and written by Graham Yost (Band of Brothers, Justified), and he shared: “We cannot wait for audiences around the world to immerse themselves in the epic world we have created to bring Hugh Howey’s novels to life.”

He continued: “Apple has believed in our vision from day one and it’s an honor to have the opportunity to dig deeper into this story and peel back the layers to our characters in the Silo.”  

Ferguson is joined in the series by a great ensemble cast that includes Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones and Tim Robbins.

Silo Season 2 doesn't have a release date yet.

ICF Films has released a new trailer for the upcoming slasher horror thriller In a Violent Nature. This unique horror movie is told from the perspective of the evil killer.

In the film, “When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it.

“The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.”

While I’ve heard the film can be boring at times because there’s a lot of walking. But, when the murder does kill people, they are brutally savage!

You can read our review of the film here. Corrin said: Literally, a comically large portion of this film is the camera following our slasher as he trudges through the woods. This made the pacing kind of inconsistent, with a lot of momentum lost in between kills.”

She added: “And speaking of, there are some of the most grotesque and over-the-top kills I’ve ever seen in this movie! Really gory stuff that I won’t describe because I really don’t want to spoil them for anyone. The moments where the slasher is doing his classic slashing were the parts that I thought worked best.”

The film was picked up by Shudder, and it follows “the enigmatic resurrection, rampage, and retribution of an undead monster in a remote wilderness.”

The movie was written and directed by Chris Nas, and it stars Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor.

Shudder’s vice president of programming said in a statement: “In a Violent Nature is a tremendous new slasher. We’re thrilled for you to meet Johnny, whose reign of terror honors the iconic subgenre while taking audiences on a singular and brutal new journey within it.”

He added: “Chris Nash’s bold perspective represents the best of Shudder, marrying the genre’s traditions with its exhilarating next steps.”

The movie will be released on May 31st, 2024.

Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk, Fast X) is set to direct and produce the sci-fi horror film 11817. The script is written by Matthew Robinson (The Invention of Lying).

In the story, “Inexplicable forces trap a family of four inside their house indefinitely. As both modern luxuries and life or death essentials begin to run out, the family must learn how to be resourceful to survive and outsmart who — or what — is keeping them trapped…”

Well, that sounds like a crazy and F’ed up nightmarish situation! Leterrier said is a statement: “Directing projects where the audience gets behind the characters has always been my focus. However complex, flawed, heroic, we identify with them as we live through their journey.”

He added: “It’s what excites me about 11817‘s wholly original concept and the family at the heart of our story. This is an experience that movie audiences won’t forget.”

The project is currently in the middle of casting, but no one has officially been set to star. It sounds like an interesting story concept, though. Judging from what we do know, it seems like the movie will have some Twilight Zone tone qualities to it.

It’ll be interesting to see what this movie ends up becoming.

Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, The Hunger Games) and Jessica Biel (The Sinner, Candy) have signed on to star in the series adaptation of the thriller novel Better Sister by Alafair Burke.

The series has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video, and is described as a thriller about “Chloe (Biel), who moves through the world with her handsome lawyer husband Adam and teenage son Ethan by her side while her estranged sister Nicky (Banks) hustles to make ends meet while trying to stay clean.”

Per the official description. “When Adam is brutally murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family, laying bare long-buried secrets.”

The series hails from Olivia Milch and Regina Corrado, who will serve as showrunners and executive producers. Banks will also executive produce via Brownstone Productions, as will Biel and Michelle Purple under their Iron Ocean Films banner.

Craig Gillespie will direct in addition to executive producing along with Annie Marter through Fortunate Jack Productions. The series is a co-production between Tomorrow Studios (an ITV Studios partner) and Amazon MGM Studios, with Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner of Tomorrow Studios executive producing. Burke will consult on the series.

Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, says of the project:

“Beyond being an enticing thriller full of twists and turns, ‘The Better Sister’ is a gripping story about family feuds and forgiveness.

“The brilliant duo of Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks are sure to bring these characters to life in the most authentic way alongside Olivia, Regina, Craig, and the talented team at Tomorrow Studios. The series is in the best hands to bring Alafair Burke’s original IP to life for our global Prime Video customers.”

This sounds like a great story for these actresses to tell. We will let you know more about the series as it moves forward.

A couple of new reports have surfaced regarding Disney Studios developing a film adaptation of Square Enix’s iconic action-RPG game franchise Kingdom Hearts.

There have been rumors about this project over the years, and while a Kingdom Hearts movie has not been officially greenlit, a film is in development.

This news comes from insider coopers DanielRPK and The DisInsider. Disney is said to be developing the project as a live-action/CGI hybrid, in the vein of the recent Sonic the Hedgehog movies.

He goes on to report that the Kingdom Hearts movie adaptation is in the works at Disney as of April 26, and if the project does happen it will be a big theatrical release.

DanielRPK also said that the next main installment in the Kingdom Hearts series, Kingdom Hearts 4, will launch sometime in 2025. That will bring the franchise back to prominence just in time for a potential movie adaptation, should Disney decide to move forward with the project.

There were previous reports that an animated Kingdom Hearts movie was in the works for Disney+. Then, back in 2003, The Disney Channel greenlit a pilot for a TV adaptation of Kingdom Hearts but didn’t give it a series order.

The decision for that came down to the difficulties in keeping the series in line with the ever-expanding universe of the games. A pilot animatic from the planned series was later published online in 2022 and was then taken down.

Kingdom Hearts blends the worlds of Disney and Final Fantasy. The game follows the journey of a young boy named Sora who, armed with a magical weapon called the Keyblade, travels through various Disney-themed worlds to battle dark forces known as the Heartless.

Alongside his companions Donald Duck and Goofy, who are emissaries from Disney Castle sent by King Mickey, Sora seeks to prevent the Heartless from consuming these worlds by closing the "Keyholes" that keep each world stable.

Fans love the narrative of the game, and it could make a pretty great movie if the story was handled properly. We’ll just have to wait and see what Disney does.

While we continue to wait for Marvel Studios Deadpool & Wolverine to be released, Ryan Reynolds and Marvel boss Kevin Feige are hyping the film in a recent interview with Empire.

Let’s just jump into what they are teasing! Reynolds says the film “feels like the most Deadpool movie in the history of Deadpool.”

Once Disney and Marvel got their hands back on the character, they promised that they wouldn’t mess with the R-rated aspects of Disney, and they’ve stayed true to their word on that, which is a relief.

You can expect all of the ultra-bloody violence and vulgarity you’d expect from Deadpool as he and Wolverine remark on an adventure of meta-multiverse mayhem!

Feige, goes on to say that Deadpool is “very intrigued” by the Sacred Timeline, “the most glorious place in the world.”

Feige goes on to say that Paradox’s plan might not be what Wade expects, and says “He learns soon thereafter that it’s not quite as simple an offer as he thought it was, and the stakes are universe-sized.”

So, it seems like this movie is going to have some major ramifications on the future of the MCU, which I think we were all expecting. It’s just going to be really interesting to see what that is and how it all plays out.

Reynolds goes on to talk about working with Hugh Jackman again, he said: “As much as I take the ever-loving f –king piss out of him each and every day, underneath that is a genuine love story.”

He adds: “As adversarial as we are in the movie, the undercurrent is one of real love. Getting to spend time with my two closest friends, and waking up in the morning with a passionate devotion to say something so horrendous that they fall over laughing is a gift.”

In this next story, Deadpool is recruited by the TVA to save the Sacred Timeline and he recruits Wolverine to help him with the job. This is a journey that Wolverine initially doesn’t want any part of. But after a big mutant brawl, he signs up.

In the film, “After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis. Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman.

“But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival but ultimately, their legacy."

It’s also explained: "That f–king irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?"

Shawn Levy is directing the movie and the confirmed cast for the movie includes Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen as a TVA Agent, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al.

They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna, who will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26th!

There’s a new Hellboy movie currently in production titled Hellboy: The Crooked Man, which is set for release later this year.

This is yet another cinematic reboot of Mike Mignola's beloved comic book, and it’s been in the works for several years. Nothing has been revealed for the movie yet, but its already found itself in a bit of controversy.

During a recent panel at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, Jonathan Yunger, President of Millennium Films, seemed to indicate that he used AI to redesign a previously-practical creature on Hellboy: The Crooked Man. 

He said: "I was able to make 3000 creature designs in an hour. So now I can start to cherry-pick and edit those and then send it to visual effects."

A lot of people haven’t embraced the AI overlord, so as you might expect, people were pretty upset with this. So, director Brian Taylor took to social media to clear things up an confirm that Yunger was misquoted and that his comments on AI were about another movie in Millennium's portfolio.

Taylor reassured fans that "our gloriously practical hellboy looks phenomenal."

The filmmaker said: “to be clear: there is exactly *ZERO* AI used on hellboy: the crooked man. both characters - hellboy and the crooked man - were created and shot 100% gloriously practical, as the movie gods intended, with no cgi enhancement... and look AMAZING.”

He went on to explain: “he was misquoted, my man. the comment was referring to a different film, THE OFFERING. rest assured there is zero AI used on HBTCM and our gloriously practical hellboy looks phenomenal. probably the article was written by AI...”

So don’t worry, AI is not being used to muck up this Hellboy movie. Hopefully, the actual real creative team doesn’t muck it up either!

The script for the film is written by franchise creator Mike Mignola and Chris Golden. The story is based on the comic of the same name, and in that story, Hellboy teams up with a rookie BPRD agent named Tom Ferrell, and find themselves stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia.

It’s there “they discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man.” The story will “expand Hellboy’s world through one of the most beloved issues of the comic series.”

Jack Kesy takes on the role of Hellboy in the movie and when talking about the movie Mignola talked about the director’s vision for the film saying: “His intention is to make a horror movie, so that’ll be nice. That’ll be interesting.

He added: “I read the new draft of the screenplay yesterday, and yes, it is definitely R. It’s the first Hellboy script that I read and I went, ‘Oh, it’s a horror movie,’ which is what I wanted.

Mignola continued: “Taylor does not have a reputation as a horror movie director. But, so far, we’ve had two horror movie directors make Hellboy movies and we’ve never gotten a horror movie.”

He went on to say: “For years, we’ve been saying, if you’re going to make a Hellboy movie, make it small. And the perfect story to do that with is my personal favorite, ‘The Crooked Man.’ I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever written.”

He explained: “It’s beautifully illustrated by Richard Corben, and it’s a solid story that doesn’t involve a million different characters. Everybody actually agreed from the very beginning, ‘Yes, we want to do that one.’ Budget-wise, it’s good because it’s a lower budget kind of a story. It’s not the Hellboy origin. It’s not Hellboy saving the world. It’s not huge. It’s a subtle, dark, little folk horror story.”

Mignola also said that this movie is one of the most faithful adaptations yet.

A G.I. Joe video game focusing on Snake Eyes is in development from the former creative head that brought us the Batman: Arkham series.

GamesIndustry.biz recently spoke to Dan Ayoub, head of digital product development at Hasbro's Wizards of the Coast. He revealed that they have invested over $1 billion in ongoing game development, and said that one of them was a G.I. Joe game.

The game is being developed by North Carolina-based Atomic Arcade, which is led by Ames Kirshen, creative director. He previously headed up the Batman: Arkham series of games at Warner Bros.

This is actually really exciting! If we could get a G.I. Joe game just as good as the Batman: Arkham games, that would be awesome!

Ayoub teased the Snake Eyes game saying it’s "not your daddy's GI Joe" and he hopes that it's a "shot in the arm" for the franchise at large.

So this is going to be something very different that what fans of the franchise are used to and I’m intrigued. While Paramount Pictures and Hasbro may never get the G.I. Joe movies right, maybe this video game will deliver something that fans will enjoy.

There have only been nine G.I. Joe games ever made, and none of them are very memorable. Hopefully, this one will turn out great! I also hope this game stays true to the origin of Snake Eyes.
