Here are Some Ways to Celebrate Batman Day Today

Today is Batman Day and a number of people are doing their best to celebrate. For starters, Fisher-Price is highlighting their Batman-themed DC Super Friends toys like the Bat-Tech Batmobile, Bat-Tech Batcave, Bat-Tech BatBot, and so much more.

Also, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment recently announced the release of a fully-remastered version of Batman: Year One. This version of the film is set to release on November 9 digitally and as a 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack with an MSRP of $33.99. The film itself is based on Frank Miller’s and David Mazzucchelli’s 1987 storyline showing a young Bruce Wayne trying to find his wings as a superhero. Ben McKenzie stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman with Bryan Cranston as Lieutenant James Gordon, Eliza Dushku as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Katee Sackhoff as Detective Sarah Essen, and the late Alex Rocco as Carmine Falcone. Batman: Year One was co-directed by Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu using a script by Tab Murphy.

The film depicts young Bruce Wayne’s return to Gotham City in his first attempts to fight injustice as a costumed Super Hero. The playboy billionaire chooses the guise of a giant bat to combat crime, creates an early bond with a young Lieutenant James Gordon (who is already battling corruption from inside the police department), inadvertently plays a role in the birth of Catwoman, and helps to bring down a crooked political system that infests Gotham City.

Finally, HBO Max has released all 10 episodes of the new podcast Batman: The Audio Adventures. If you don’t have HBO Max, you can listen to the first two episodes from your favorite platforms starting tomorrow, September 19. This podcast stars Jeffrey Wright as Batman, Rosario Dawson as Catwoman, John Leguizamo as the Riddler, and a variety of Saturday Night Live alumni. This new podcast takes inspiration from the vintage noir atmosphere of Batman: The Animated Series, the entire 80-plus year history of the Caped Crusader, and the spirited fun of the 1960s television series. Dennis McNicholas writes and directs the podcast and Doug Bossi provides the score.

In the scripted audio original, produced in partnership with Warner Bros. and DC, Gotham City comes to lurid life in the theater of your mind with a sensational pageant of technicolor villainy unlike any other on Earth. Mafioso Penguins. Thieving Catwomen. Terrorizing Riddlers. Killing Jokers. A city where some problems can only be solved by a billionaire in a bat costume.
