HBO Renews WESTWORLD For a Fourth Season

If you’re a fan of HBO’s Westworld, and you’ve been enjoying the third season of the series, you’ll be happy to learn that the cable network has renewed the show for a fourth season!

Casey Bloys, president of HBO Programming, said in a statement:

"From the western theme park to the technocratic metropolis of the near future, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn from the minds of master storytellers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. We can’t wait to see where their inspired vision takes us next.”

While the show hasn’t been as good as it was in Season 1, I’m still hooked in and interested in the story and seeing how it plays out. Westworld is described as a “dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the question of free will.”

Westworld isn't your typical amusement park. Intended for rich vacationers, the futuristic park -- which is looked after by robotic "hosts" -- allows its visitors to live out their fantasies through artificial consciousness. No matter how illicit the fantasy may be, there are no consequences for the park's guests, allowing for any wish to be indulged. "Westworld" -- which is based on the 1973 Michael Crichton movie of the same name.

Things have taken a very different unexpected turn since leaving the futuristic park, and I wonder how the story is going to continue to play out. I’m sure it will be filled with some more interesting twists and turns.

The series was created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who are executive producers with Denise Thé, J.J. Abrams, Athena Wickham, Richard J. Lewis, and Ben Stephenson. I imagine many of the cast members for the series will also return for Season 4.
