GREMLINS Behind-The-Scenes Footage and Making Of Videos Along with Deleted Scenes

With Christmas coming up tomorrow, here’s a fun collection of behind-the-scenes and Making Of videos from Joe Dante and Steven Spielberg’s classic 1984 family Christmas horror film, Gremlins. I love this movie, and it’s one I enjoy revisiting every year during the holidays.

Even with all of all the times that I’ve watched this film, there are still behind-the-scenes and making of videos for it that I’ve never seen, and it’s fascinating and cool to watch the filmmakers at work making this movie and listen to them talk about their vision for the film all those years ago. When the first video was made, it was in the middle of production and they had no idea that this movie would become the classic that it did.

There’s also a two part video that features the creative team looking back on making the movie and it also features some behind-the-scenes footage and photos from the film’s development.

The fourth video is filled with some fun and interesting deleted scenes for you to watch!

Gremlins follows a young man named Billy Peltzer, who receives a mysterious and adorable creature called a Mogwai as a Christmas gift. However, there are strict rules for taking care of the Mogwai, including not exposing it to bright light, not getting it wet, and never feeding it after midnight. When these rules are accidentally broken, the Mogwai multiply and transform into mischievous and destructive creatures known as Gremlins, wreaking havoc on the small town of Kingston Falls. It's up to Billy and his girlfriend, Kate, to stop the Gremlins and save their town from chaos.

This was a groundbreaking film that blended horror and comedy, appealing to a wide range of family audiences. The use of puppetry and animatronics for the Gremlins was a technical achievement at the time, and it set a precedent for future creature effects in film. The film also helped usher in the PG-13 rating by the Motion Picture Association of America due to its darker and more violent scenes that were not suitable for a traditional PG rating.
