First Look at Jeff Nichols' Sci-Fi Chase Film MIDNIGHT SPECIAL
One of films I'm looking forward to the most in 2016 is Midnight Special, the studio debut from Take Shelter and Mud director Jeff Nichols. Information about it is hard to come by, but knowing how great Nichols' previous work has been, combined with a cast that includes Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, and Sam Shepard, there's a good chance it could end up being pretty damn good.
Entertainment Weekly has the first look at the film with a photo and a teaser poster, and a quick comment from Nichols himself about the type of influential movies that he looked to when making this one:
“Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., Starman, they were my inspirations — very propulsive journeys that work when you can’t predict what’s going to happen next,” Nichols says. “This is my sci-fi chase film.”
I know that's not much to go on, but it sounds great to me. Midnight Special hits theaters on March 18th, 2016.
