First Look at Brec Bassinger as STARGIRL in DC's Upcoming New Series
The first photo has been released from the upcoming DC Universe series Stargirl and it features Brec Bassinger (School of Rock) all decked out in her costume as the title character! You know what? I actually dig the look! It’s a pretty cool character design that is a perfect representation of the character.
Stargirl centers around Courtney Whitmore, who is played by Brec Bassinger, “a struggling high-schooler who relocates to Blue Valley, Nebraska when her mom gets married. After discovering her new stepfather was Starman’s sidekick Stripesy, Courtney uses his old Cosmic Staff to become Stargirl and inspire an unlikely group of young heroes to fight villains of the past. The titular character, who jumpstarted Johns’ career when he created her in 1999, was lovingly inspired by his sister, who was killed in a 1996 plane explosion.”
Bassinger will be joined by Joel McHale as Golden Age Starman/Sylvester Pemberton, S.W.A.T.‘s Lou Ferrigno Jr. was cast as Golden Age Hourman, Brian Stapf as Ted Grant/Wildcat, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Henry Thomas as Charles McNider/Dr Mid-Nite and Anjelika Washington in an undisclosed role.
The Series has also been confirmed to premiere at some point in 2020. It was also announced Swamp Thing will premiere on May 31st, and Young Justice: Outsiders will return with the back half of season three on July 2.
