Emily Blunt Set to Star in an Action-Adventure Detective Film Produced by Dwayne Johnson
Amazon Studios is teaming up with Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson for a new action-adventure detective movie inspired by Kate Warne, the first woman to become a detective at the Pinkerton Agency.
Blunt will take on the role of Warne, “a real life female Sherlock Holmes in a male dominated industry whose singular sleuthing skills paved the way for future women in law enforcement and forever changed how detective work was done.”
Dwayne Johnson is producing the film with Black Adam and Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra set to helm. The script is being written by Gustin Nash, who worked on films such as Youth in Revolt and Charlie Bartlett.
There aren’t really any other details to share, but this sounds like it’s going to be a great character for Blunt to play!
Kate Warne was hired by Allan Pinkerton in 1856, she broke gender barriers in a male-dominated profession and went on to play pivotal roles in various cases. Notably, she was instrumental in uncovering the Baltimore Plot, a conspiracy to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln in 1861. Posing as a Southern belle, she gathered critical intelligence which subsequently aided in safely escorting Lincoln to his inauguration in Washington, D.C.
Throughout her career, Warne used her unique skills and abilities to handle undercover roles. Her contributions set the stage for other women to join the profession and left an indelible mark on the history of American law enforcement.
