DUNE: PART TWO Gets an Epic New Trailer!
Warner Bros. has released a stunning second trailer for director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, and this offers us our best look yet at what’s in store for the second chapter of this sci-fi epic! This next film looks incredible and this trailer gave me an adrenaline rush of excitement!
Dune is a mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, and tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), “a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”
This next chapter of the story will explore the “mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”
The returning cast also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Stephen McKinley Henderson. New cast members include Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, and Souheila Yacoub as Shishakli.
Villeneuve previously talked about the movie saying he wanted this movie to have a lot of heart, and he wanted to make a very human film. He explained: “I wanted to make a very human movie, very close to the characters, despite the scope of the film. I kept saying to my crew, ‘The most important thing is that spark, that relationship between both of these characters.’ If we don’t capture that, if we don’t have that onscreen, there’s no movie. The epicenter of the story is this relationship.”
You definitely get a sense of that in this new trailer. The highly anticipated sequel Dune: Part Two will arrive in theaters on November 3, 2023.
