Denzel Washington and Spike Lee Teaming Up for New Crime Thriller Film HIGH AND LOW
Denzel Washington and director Spike Lee are reuniting for a new film project titled High and Low for Apple Original Films and A24. The film is an English-language reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime thriller.
The original movie explores themes of class divide and morality. Set in post-war Japan, the story follows a wealthy businessman, Kingo Gondo, whose life is turned upside down when he becomes a victim of extortion when his chauffeur’s son is kidnapped by mistake and held for ransom.
The script for the film was written by Lee and Alan Fox, but there are no details on how the story for the new film will be different from the original.
High and Low is the fifth time that Lee and Washington have worked together, most recently on 2006’s Inside Man. A24 will release the film theatrically before its global launch on Apple TV+.
