Dark Horse And Netflix Extend Creative Partnership With New Series Starring Idris Elba And More

Netflix and Dark Horse have decided to extend their first look deal. Under the multi year deal Dark Horse will continue to give Netflix a first look at its IP for both film and TV. This deal has brought us shows and films such as Polar, Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, and Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness. They have also recently collaborated on the third season of the popular The Umbrella Academy and their 8 episode series Grendel, based on the comic by Matt Wagner, is currently in post production. But the really exciting news is the new series that have been announced.

First up we will be getting a film of the comic Bang! by Matt Kindt and Wilfredo Torres. Starring Idris Elba and directed by David Leitch, the movie follows the world’s most celebrated spy as they track down a terrorist cult trying to start the apocalypse with a series of brainwashing novels. I haven’t read the comic, but I’m really excited to see this. People have long wanted Elba to play James Bond so it should be cool to see him in this spy role.

The second project announced is Mind MGMT, a series adaptation of the comic book series by Kindt. Curtis Gwinn (Stranger Things) is set to executive produce this crazy sounding sci-fi series. When a young woman stumbles onto the top-secret Mind Management program she attempts to find the man who was MIND MGMT’s greatest success and most devastating failure. She have to navigate weaponized psychics, hypnotic advertising, talking dolphins, and seemingly immortal pursuers. In a world where people can rewrite reality, can she really trust everything she is seeing? This sounds like it will be a wild ride but I’m excited to see who they end up casting in it.

Do either of these projects sound cool to you? I think they both sound like they will be really cool to watch.
