Charlie Hunnam Says He Almost Played Anakin Skywalker in STAR WAR Prequel Films
Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy, Pacific Rim, Rebel Moon) recently revealed that he was almost cast as Anakin Skywalker in George Lucas’ Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. The job ultimately went to Hayden Christensen, but Hunnam shared his experience about auditioning for the role and says he even took a meeting with George Lucas. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor said:
"I had forgotten that until you said that, but yes I did. Years and years ago, I met George Lucas. I got to the point where I was meeting George Lucas, which...I don't think he meets a lot of actors. I think it was maybe two, three actors they were considering. I don't remember much about it. I remember that I was nervous, and I was a little bit awkward and I just remember walking out and thinking, 'Well, I'm definitely not getting that role,' and I was correct."
Regardless of not landing the role of Anakin, Hunnam went on to have a successful acting career and has been involved with some great projects throughout his career. His career was probably better off not getting the part! It’s interesting to learn that Hunnam was one of the top choices for Anakin, though. All these years later, he’s now starring in a film inspired by Star Wars.
Do you think Hunnam would have made a good Anakin Skywalker?
