Bruce Campbell Says He'd Consider Staring in a New EVIL DEAD Movie If Sam Raimi Directed It

It sounds like Bruce Campbell may not be as retired from the Evil Dead franchise as we think! Sure, he did say that he was done playing Ash in the live-action Evil Dead projects, but no he’s saying that he would actually consider coming back to play Ash again in a new film project if Sam Raimi also returned to direct.

During a recent interview with Fangoria, Bruce Campbell said:

“I’ll go on record here! These guys don’t scare me! I worked on Xena, so nothing scares me. If Sam says, ‘I, Sam Raimi, will direct another Evil Dead movie,’ then I, Bruce Campbell, will consider being in it. I don’t want to be Ash, tended to by other people. Sam’s the meanest director I’ve ever worked with, and Ash needs a little bit of that to shine. And I think Sam’s the only director now who I won’t punch in the face making an Evil Dead movie! I’m just saying, I’ve called Rob and Sam out, I’m not the coward that they think I am; I just want the right circumstances. Because Sam, even though he’s done studio movies, he’s still a good director! [Raimi laughs] So, I want Sam! I’ll do it for Sam.”

Raimi recently said that he believes that a new Evil Dead movie with Campbell is still possible and also that there’s room for all sorts of Evil Dead movies. He explained:

“That character, Mia, was great, so I was very interested. We had been talking about an ‘Evil Dead IV’ for the other branch of that universe, and we were worried a little bit about a collision. Ash Vs Evil Dead is what that morphed into. But I always thought there was room for both. I still think there’s room for all sorts of Evil Dead movies. I don’t think they cancel each other out.

“I love working with Bruce and Rob. I love it as a producer because they’re really good partners, but I also like being supported by them as the director. So I hope that is on the cards eventually.”

So, with Raimi wanting to make another Evil Dead movie with Campbell, it seems like this could actually happen! I would love nothing more than for Raimi and Campbell to make another Evil Dead movie that continues Ash’s story! I think it’s time for Raimi to take that shot because the ball is in his court!
