Ben Stiller Will Direct Adam Scott in a New Apple TV+ Thriller Series Called SEVERANCE
Ben Stiller is set to direct a new thriller series that’s been picked up by Apple TV+ called Severance. The series is set to star Adam Scott, who will play a character named Mark, an employee of Lumen Industries, “a company that’s looking to take work-life balance to a new level.” Mark is described as “an employee with a dark past trying to put himself back together.”
The series was created and written by Dan Erickson, and Apple has given it a full series order. This won’t be the first project that Stiller and Scott have worked on together. Stiller previously directed and starred alongside Scott in The Secret Life of Walker Mitty.
I enjoy the film and TV work that Stiller and Scott have been a part of, and it’s great to see these two teaming up for what could be a great project. As for Erickson, he hasn’t done that much. He’s worked in series development for Super Deluxe and has written for Spike’s Lip Sync Battle Pre-Show. His Severance script was the first TV script to make it on to the annual Bloodlist in 2016.
Chris Black (Outcast, Star Trek: Enterprise) will executive produce alongside Erickson. Stiller, Nicky Weinstock, and Jackie Cohn will executive produce through Red Hour Productions, while Scott will serve as producer. Endeavor Content will serve as the studio. This is one of the several Apple TV+ projects developed by Endeavor Content, following See and the upcoming Truth Be Told.
So far Apple TV+ has pumped out some quality content. I’m currently watching The Morning Show and For All Mankind, both of which are fantastic.
