Mattson Tomlin, the writer behind The Batman and Netflix’s latest sci-fi action film Project Power, is set to make his big feature film directorial debut with a sci-fi thriller titled Mother/Android.

Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass, Greta) is set to star in the film, and she will take on the role of a character named Georgia who, “with her boyfriend Sam, goes on a treacherous journey to escape their country, which is caught in an unexpected war with artificial intelligence. Days away from the arrival of their first child, the couple must face No Man’s Land— a stronghold of the android uprising, in hopes of reaching safety before giving birth.”

Tomlin also wrote the script, which is loosely based on Tomlin's birth parents, “a young couple who were determined to save their child amid the dangers of the Romanian Revolution.” Tomlin said in a statement:

“Mother/ Android is a deeply personal story inspired by sacrifices made to bring me into this world. I’m thrilled to be working with Miramax and my friend Matt Reeves to tell a story that speaks to the strength of humanity in the darkest of times.”

The film project is set up at Miramax, and producer Bill Block added:

“Tomlin gracefully weaves the history of his roots into a futuristic tale with an imaginative twist on reality. It’s a true testament to his talent and unique approach at captivating broad, global audiences.”

There are some talented individuals attached to this sci-fi film, so I imagine it will end up being a decent movie worth checking out.
